RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 02-12-2011 Modifying the intake manifold. When its welded i will grind and smooth it out on both out and inside. But this is just a temporary solution, will make a bigger plenum on this intake someday when i get the time RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 02-13-2011 Started with the exhaust manifold today. Used mild steel with 38mm internal diameter and 42mm outer. The pipes are cut and coned into about 35-36mm to match the flange/exhaust outlets in the head. Tomorrow i will cut they a little shorter and start with the bends/the rest. Here is a pic how it is right now. RE: My 83 300D - garage - 02-13-2011 This kicks ass BRABUS keep on keepin on man! I cant wait to see how the plenum and the exhaust manifold turns out. RE: My 83 300D - DeliveryValve - 02-13-2011 (02-11-2011, 10:24 AM)BRABUS New intake Thanks DeliveryValve.. Glad it made it and it's on the engine... well sort of. How did the box survive? I am always curious on how shipping folks treat boxes. Looking for forward to seeing more progress. Again, great job so far! . RE: My 83 300D - 300D50 - 02-13-2011 Looks sexy! I do wonder how real those are though... Oh, and the intake looks awesome too! :p RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 02-14-2011 (02-13-2011, 06:03 PM)DeliveryValve(02-11-2011, 10:24 AM)BRABUS New intake Thanks DeliveryValve.. The box was in great shape RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 02-14-2011 Almost done with the intake manifold. A little grinding inside and its all done. But this is only done because i want the car back in daily use(tired of driving a old nissan) When i get my modded IP i will build the plenum twice as big almost. RE: My 83 300D - 300D50 - 02-14-2011 Keep up the good work! RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 02-16-2011 had some time to work on the header. But i have only received 4 90degree bends. Så i couldnt do much. Will receive 30 90Degree bends and 15feet pipe later this weekend. RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 02-18-2011 Removed the battery from the engine compartment, i put it with the other battery in the trunk. Got a little better space in the engine compartment now... Also started with the rest of the header, but did only runner 1 and 2 almost finnished. Both are 62.5cm long, all runners wil be around 75cm when they meet inside the collector. RE: My 83 300D - s123 - 02-19-2011 This is a very cool car! Smart thing to do to get better weight balance and more room. What kind of cables are you using (mm2)? RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 02-19-2011 Thanks The power cable is 60mm2, i guess it wil work. But i dont know if it would knock out the 250A auto Fuse.. RE: My 83 300D - s123 - 02-19-2011 Spent to much time on Facebook, found my self looking for the 'Like' button..... Hey I like this!! RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 02-19-2011 Worked with the header som hours today. But once again i used all the bends, i hope my dealer have received the last ones i ordered by monday. All runners are 62cm +-2-3mm. Now only need bends to finnish cyl3,wastegate,egt bung and collector. Then my welder can weld it all togheter Here are some pics RE: My 83 300D - mike-81-240d - 02-19-2011 How did you go about mounting the driving/ fog lights to the front bumper? Did you drill directly into the bumper, or make a bar type thing? Oh boy I hope you went with 3000, 4300, or 5000k bulbs. RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 02-19-2011 The lights is mounted on a plate/bracket thats is between the bumper and the license plate. With only 2 bolts to hold the lincense plate/ lights. Off course the lights are 4300k. RE: My 83 300D - ID240D - 02-19-2011 Great work can't wait to see the finished product RE: My 83 300D - dieselboy - 02-20-2011 It's a pita making a header for a 5cyl huh? I'm curious as to what you are doing for the collector. I was making a header for my t5 Volvo but that's being put off for awhile. RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 02-20-2011 Thanks. First time making a collector for 5cyl, so i thougt it maybe would be a challenge. But will see when i start at it tommorrow, i have dreamed about it last night how i should make it hahaha RE: My 83 300D - DeliveryValve - 02-20-2011 (02-20-2011, 05:33 AM)BRABUS Thanks. I had thoughts of having the fifth pipe come up the middle. But I assume space and pipe material limitations is hindering that idea. Again looking good and an inspiration to others looking to build a custom header. Can't wait to see it completed! . RE: My 83 300D - dieselboy - 02-20-2011 From what I've seen is people will do a 6-1 collector then use #6 for the waste gate. RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 02-20-2011 Dieselboy. That wont work so good on this setup. because collector will be for twin entry. 5cyl will go inn between cyl 1 and 2. Give me some days and i will show you how its turns out.. RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 02-21-2011 Modified the header today. The turbo now sits lower and i a better position than before. But i need to lift the engine 12" to remove or install the header RE: My 83 300D - winmutt - 02-21-2011 HE351VE? Also, how do those spring LSD clutches work out? RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 02-21-2011 HX40G OR HX40S dont remember with exhaust housing 13. RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 02-22-2011 The header is almost finished, i need to get my welder to tig weld it. Then i will make the pipes for the wastegate and mount a bung for manifold pressure and egt. RE: My 83 300D - garage - 02-22-2011 I wish we had a smiley face that was drooling. Those headers are bitchin. I cant wait to possibly listen to this thing run! Videos when finished pleassseeee RE: My 83 300D - winmutt - 02-23-2011 Divided turbo flange? 5 Cylinder? RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 02-23-2011 Yes. divided 5cyl RE: My 83 300D - winmutt - 02-23-2011 I guess that wont hurt anything, just kind of odd? Is that turbo divided as well? RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 02-24-2011 yes the turbo is divided also. maybe odd. but it works! RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 03-05-2011 Me and 4 buddies are currently moving to a new garage. We have drove 2 times with big semies full of parts, engines, tires and tools. And also moved all 13 cars and the dragster we had in the old garage. We also have to make new wiring to the lights and heaters in the new garage, also try to get the ice/water out of the garage and seal the wall where it meets the concrete. So there will be some weeks until i get to weld together the header, and continue with this car. But i have received some new parts and waiting for more Also installed this : RE: My 83 300D - George3soccer - 03-06-2011 Please let me know how you got that rpm tach wired up. RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 03-06-2011 Welded a wire on one of the three stator pins inside the alternator. The gauge is meant for alternator signal But the alternator on my car had a very small pulley/wheel. So i can calibrate it all the war down to where its should be in the rpm range. Gonna find another pulley and see how it works. RE: My 83 300D - garage - 04-01-2011 Hope your move goes well! RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 04-01-2011 almost done moving. But now i also started on my apartment. New kitchen and bathroom and so on But i my welder has started on the manifold, so there will be updates soon RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 04-07-2011 Exhaust manifold welded. execept the wastegate runners. The final position of the turbo Here is a video of start up. without turbo Here i have tacked the pipes to the wastegate The last wastegate pipe will be cut and the wastegate will be mounted 2" nearer the front of the car. RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 04-08-2011 exhaust manifold DONE! RE: My 83 300D - JB3 - 04-08-2011 unreal RE: My 83 300D - willbhere4u - 04-08-2011 How dose that waste gate work? RE: My 83 300D - garage - 04-08-2011 Id like more info about the wastegate too. RE: My 83 300D - dieselboy - 04-08-2011 It's just an external gate. A huge external gate. RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 04-09-2011 Done! Only need to wrap the downpipe now. RE: My 83 300D - mike-81-240d - 04-09-2011 (04-09-2011, 09:36 AM)BRABUS Done! Is it just headers/downpipe in the video, or is the exhaust hooked up? RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 04-09-2011 Only downpipe on the video RE: My 83 300D - willbhere4u - 04-09-2011 Where dose the waste gate hook back in to the exhaust? I can see that it relives both sides of the divided exhaust housing but it has to dump back in the the exhaust some where? RE: My 83 300D - George3soccer - 04-09-2011 Unless the wastegate has its own downpipe. Sounds amazing bro. RE: My 83 300D - BRABUS - 04-09-2011 Wastgate has its own downpipe also called SCREAMER pipe RE: My 83 300D - dieselboy - 04-09-2011 Sounds great!!
