matching paint? - larsalan - 09-29-2011

I saw those bumpers off in the 'rally car' thread. And I'm thinking I could pull my bumpers and trim pieces, weld up any holes and bondo in the groove where the trim goes.
I wonder is there any hope of matching the paint on the body on just those sections or does the whole car need to be repainted?
We paint trucks at this new job I have but I dunno about matching the nice glossy finish that is on my car.
I dont think the paint is factory right now either cause I have seen a spot that looks like a ghost of some runny paint.

Well, I deleted the bumpers today. Call it weight reduction stage 1, those bits are like 90lbs.

Hey,

I took off my front bumper also... I noticed some difference in steering, performance or could be my mind was playing tricks on me. I took our bathroom scale and weighed just the front bumper. Around 29 pounds. Then, I weighed myself. I think my car is better off if I go on a diet.... LOL. Following your lead and taking off the back bumper this weekend if it stop raining. Good deal!
