Valve wont adjust? - Kozuka - 04-03-2009 Hey Guys, I just got another Mercedes diesel OM617! Well the mom mobile.. She likes the W123 wagon So we picked it up and brought it home so I could take a good look at it. Started to do a valve adjustment and the intake on number 1 just wouldn't go down.. I did the rest of them but this is definatly not a good thing any ideas what would cause this. I rotated it clockwise a bunch of times but I just couldn't seem to get it to give me any clearance.. The hex head seems stripped at one side or something on the lock nut so it makes it a real pain to turn. I might have another go at it and see but I litraly was on that thing for at least 4 hours. Which seems abit extreme and it just didn't seem to move. Just span round and round it would get slack and I would take it up with the adjusting nut. The valves on this thing seemed like they hadn't been adjusted in awhile (tight). Thanks, Kozuka. RE: Valve wont adjust? - ForcedInduction - 04-03-2009 Is the whole valve turning? You may need to hold the collar. RE: Valve wont adjust? - Kozuka - 04-04-2009 I'm gunna have another go at it on monday I will be sure to hold the collar and see where that gets me. RE: Valve wont adjust? - winmutt - 04-07-2009 Stick a wrench between cam tower and collar nut. RE: Valve wont adjust? - Kozuka - 04-09-2009 I managed to get it to go to the correct clearance. Thanks guys. |
