Screaming windows? - Purplecomputer - 12-13-2011

This problem has been going on for a while now and its been getting worse!

Everytime i drive i get this squealing noise from the doors, i usually crack the windows down a little a it stops.

it sounds like its coming from the top most corner of the driver side door and not sure where on the passenger side.

is this the door seals that are shot and need to be replaced?

I would like some info before i start spending a lot of money on seals

me too! Its like having a small child scream in your ear non stop while your driving!Angry

My doors are noise-free.

Duct-tape the door crack and climb in through the passenger side and drive it and see if it still makes the noise. If it still makes the noise, duct-tape the top of the window where it goes into the top of the door frame.

This should isolate the problem.

I was looking for a more professional and permanent result...one that dosnt require duct tape

I am not saying the duct tape is the solution; I am merely suggesting that it may help you diagnose whether the problem is the door seal or the window seal.

OH! now i see what your saying. I thought you were pulling my leg and joking around.

Ill will give this a test probably tonight.

the door seals are all cracked and missing sections out of it. Should i just replace them?

My left rear door seal had a small crack and I just filled it with black silicone sealant. It makes no noise and is perfectly rainproof. But if pieces are missing from the door seal then yeah, I'd replace it.

i guess i answered my own question, huh? Guess i like to waste cyberspace and make useless threads. Angel

thanks for the help though!!

Yeah this is probably the most annoying thing ever, whistling at speeds above 45~ish right in my ear, although I think mine is a combination of door seal and window seal needing replacement. For now I'll live with it though Dodgy

well ebay has a door seal set for about 160 not bad, mercedesource sells one door seal for 60 so another 100 for all four. their expensive but well worth it in the long run. I willl probably buy all new ones after the holidays and ill let you guys know how it turns out.

RE: Screaming windows? - sassparilla_kid - 12-15-2011

I found them on autohausaz for like 45 per door, I think mine is the window seal because I discovered today that if I push out on the window while whistling goes away and Im just left with the wind noise that leaks in through the holes in the door seal

EDIT: Just looked at this website you were talking about, why did no one tell me about this site? it has EVERYTHING i need at good prices!

RE: Screaming windows? - sassparilla_kid - 12-15-2011

Yeah everything I need I found there for about 30% less than other stores, but I think Im gonna wait to make an order until I get paid again or maybe after Christmas so my bank account has a break from the constant beatings it gets lol
