What happened to this bearing? - Torkey - 10-14-2012

Working on an engine over haul and have gotten as far as removing the pistons. The connecting rod bearings all show some bluing.
What would cause this? I found some info that it can be caused by fuel in the oil but I know this isn't the case since I took an oil sample in for analysis prior to the rebuild. No fuel in oil reported.
Any ideas?

Hard to tell by the picture, but it looks more like it is worn through the first layer of bearing metal. to worn to reuse but I do not see any problems with it.

I looked at the bearings closer today and also noticed there is slight evidence of brinnelling on the bearing in the picture and the other bearings.

All said... not bad after 300K miles.

That looks normal at that mileage for upper shells on the rod. If it was also the bottom shells, then maybe the engine was run on too thin of oil.
