so im driving down the road when the temp is about 70 this time of year and every now and again when i pull a hill the temp gets hott. sometimes about 110. then the other night i was driving threw some snow and my temp needle was buried under the 40 is was everything i could do to keep my belts from sqweaking while i was driving. what would cause such crazy temps???

thanks

How"s the anti-freeze level ?

RE: does this sound right to you? - DirtDiesel - 10-27-2012

just on or slightly below. blows my mind my motor would get that cold?!

could it be that the po took out the thermostat?

RE: does this sound right to you? - Hercules - 10-27-2012

Yes, could be or stuck thermostat. Remember the chill factor when driving,at least 20 degrees lower than out side temps.

just seems like an extremely large range for temp to run i will get a gasket then pull it apart and see

change the stat first and no need to take it apart just get a sniffer kit and test your coolant. Works kinda like an antifreeze test but it tests for hydrocarbons in the coolant. If there isn't any there then the gasket is fine.

that was my bad i was refering to a thermostat and gasket. i think you might have thought i was talking about a head gasket???

Sorry yes you're right I was thinking you meant head gasket. My defence is, it was late for me ;-)
