602962 valve springs - Duncansport - 06-10-2013

Anyone here have any experience on sourcing updated valve spring for 602 engine? They are the same for 601,602 and 603 according to epc. The upper retainer is the same as a 8 valve M102 and well as the lower shim so this makes me think that they are the same width.

Ill be tearing off the head this week so i'll measure and test them, but i though id see if anyone had any experience with "performance springs" here first.

Thinking out loud here...

So the M103 has the same lower seat size as the 602. The first year M103's in 300E's had a 6800 rpm limit in the EZL if i recall. Also 86/87 had valve spring issues with them breaking so there is an updated number as well. So i guess ill get the 602 springs out and get the pressure on them and compare it to the M103. Hopefully they are the same height too.

So M103 springs are pretty much the same size, 1MM wider but they are the same as the retainer size used in the 602. See the force difference though, close to 300 N more at compressed height.
