Incorrect HX35 turbine housing fitted.!? - Hario' - 07-22-2015

All,

I have an eBay Holset HX35, with 12 cast into the turbine inlet. However  when looking down onto the turbine wheel there is approximately 5mm (1/4") clearance around the wheel between it and the turbine housing.

Clearly the wheel is meant for a smaller housing (10cm2?) however the only smaller than 12cm2 housing would be from a HY35 and I thought it would not fit?

Regardless I am looking for advice as to where to source a correct smaller housing to make the turbo useable. Of course the other option is a bigger wheel however I do not wish to increase the area to 12, I want to get a smaller housing (10?).

Pictures to follow, thoughts????

Beers, H.

Perhaps admin can move this to 'Engine' for me?.. Ooops..

The turbine could have been clipped or the housing clearanced for more flow. This is a divided inlet housing?

It is a divided 12 yes. There is around 4mm clearance between the turbine blade tips and the housing so it is clearly incorrectly matched parts, not clipped for clearance blades.

I'm thinking it must be a 10cm2 HY35 CRHA but I thought they weren't bolt together. sorry I'll get a photo!
