ASR ABS warnings!? - BoostedW124 - 09-17-2017

These warnings appear on dash usually after 10 minutes of driving. New brake switch. My buddy guesses maybe wheel sensor. Any of you guys experienced this?

On our 210 wagon, a similar ESP /ABS fault occurred due to brake dust (200k mi worth) building between the reluctor wheel teeth (fronts only, rear was clean), giving errant signals.  Would cause the car to go into some sort of frustrating limp mode over ~60mph (trans effectively in neutral & no throttle control). Was SO much fun on a two lane highway with no shoulders in late december with a 3 month old on board...).  A restart would clear the fault for long enough to limp to the next pull-out.

Anyways, cleaning the reluctor wheels cured the problem.  I also replaced the brake switch first, but this had no effect.

Thanks JEvans i will pull off front wheel this week and clean abs sensors and inspect reluctor gears.

Both sides were pretty packed with crap - I had to pull the entire hub off (the gears are behind the dust shields) but you might be able to see in there if you pull the abs sensor. I doubt you could clean them through that hole however. Good time to inspect the wheel bearings, I guess...
