I did this on the MW by turning the holders. For the M pump is it just a matter of unlocking the element arm at the rack and advancing it forward? Will it stop somewhere? Meken any advice while I patiently wait for your elements to come down from the heavens? Also I was thinking about taking 6 k type couplers and putting them in the gp holes and then measuring temp to try to balance the elements, a poor mans bosch bench. Took the millivolt timing method thread to the next level. Thoughts?

I would not loosen the elementarms from the rack. You will never be able to balance them again without putting the pump on a bench. I don't think you can adjust them by temperature alone, too many factors will affect the reading.
Adjust the governor instead so that you will have a longer rack travel.

hi,
i tried balancing elements when i fitted the 7.5 ones, i measured amount of fuel from each one but when the pump was on Dieselmekens test bench they were way out. I would advise not to touch them.

No, there is no max stop you can adjust yourself on these m-pumps. Adjust the fuel screw, the stop screw behind the back coverSmile You can also shims the spring(dont remember the name) on the guvenor...It`s is very easy! I adjusted my car with the backcover of while it was running, and i remember that i bottomed the stop screw, had a least 4-5 turns on the fuel screw(these two screws are turned the same amount)+ adjusted the spring with 1mm i think. I adjusted it so it was right before runaway! It was a bit slow form high rpm and down to idle, but it was not that badBig Grin
Workd like a treat!

Yup OK. I just misinterpreted one of your posts "maxed out elements" to mean that they had been rotated.

4 bolts and 6 screws? Sound like an easy lunch project when you are working from home.

Due to piss poor planning I just now got done (I did remove the manifold). Worth the effort. 2 Turns and its a bit different in the uppers on my quick run. I'll know more tomorrow after my commute. EDH, how many turns did you end up doing?

I don`t remember exactly, but it was 4 or 5 turns on the fuel screw, and the same to the stop screw. I remeber that the stop screw was all the way out, and bottomed. I shimsed the Torque Control Capsule a bit much, then it had a runaway...But i took shims from the one side, and put it on the other side, very easy when you have the backcover offSmile

hi
i learned this also, when you turn up the fuel screw to nearly runaway, back off the stop screw on the throttle lever, (as if your dropping idle speed) and runaway is no more, so give her more fuel and everytime you get near runaway back off the stop screw and then more fuel.

Are you talking about 2b or 2f?

Been driving the car today, I gained at least 10-20hp. Out ran a 2.8 e30? today! Even though I turned in my ALDA a full turn I am pushing out way more smoke still.....
