What's a spark plug???

I have been seeing quite a few turbocharges on Ebay that dose not have a wastegate built to them, well if theres no wastegate would the turbo overboost?? My question is What do you do to prevent it from overboosting?? Why is there a non wastegated turbo?? I am just a little lost Huh

Non-wastegated turbos are terrible for daily driving and performance. They do not produce maximum boost until maximum RPM and fueling, which is also what limits boost pressure on them.

You can add a wast gate to any turbo manifold some care are designed to have an external wase gate to save space

Many of the non-wastegated turbos are designed for constant speed engines or standalone generators. which rarely have dramatic changes in fueling and load. for cars, no good.

When you use a turbo W/O wastegate, you can use an external wastegate.

Unfortunately, an external wastegate does nothing to alter the slow spooling nature of them.

That depends on How the turbo was made! some non internal waste gate turbo are designed for external waste gates for racing purpose and make boost just the same as an internal WG! internal WG tend to have boost creep! that why race car and a lot of high performance applications use external waste gates!

spooling has noting to do with a waste gate it all about compressor sizes and trim and application!

all be it most turbos with out waste gates that aren't custom made for your application wont work well
as they are designed usually for stationary engines running at a peak power/constant rpm

In other words a non waste gated turbo DESIGNED to work with an external waste gate works just fine
