Hi. I wonder if anyone know if it is possible to bolt on a manual transmission on a M117 engine from a w126 who used to have a auto-transmission.

I've heard that the flywheel and clutch from a 300E w124 might fit so you can put on a manual transmission but I have no Idea it's just something I heard.

if I am not mistaken the 107 chassis came with a 117 with a manual option, the clutch and flywheel part numbers can be looked up the parts catalog. I will try to load it here at home if not I will look it up during the week.

Ok sounds good and I forgot to say it's a 500sl engine don't know from what year it is tho.

You must find a V8 gear box, they have a different bell housing from inline models. Or take a look at the franken 5-speed thread and cut up an auto.

Oh that was a nice thread. So if i put this as basic as I can, if I manage to find a flywheel that fits on the m117 engine I can "simply" get a transmission and a clutch that would fit for that and cut off the bell housing from the auto-transmission and weld it on the manual transmission, it might work?

Well that's what I tought would be most simple for me whit my tiny knowledge after reading that thread. hehe Tongue

My iron 5-speed has a mix of casting numbers starting with either 115 or 117.
The oral history is that it was originally mated to a V8 in an SEC.

The bell housing is identical to the M110 and OM617 bell housings
so if the history for this transmission is true, I would think the V8 has the same bolt pattern.

so if the history for this transmission is true, I would think the V8 has the same bolt pattern.
