I didn't think the NA OM606 had these nozzles to cool the pistons...

Cheers,

I was told this engine is out of a '96 W210...so I'm not sure what else might be interesting in there. I'll know more once it gets fully disassembled.

Cheers,

Matt

So it seems like the main differences between the NA and turbo OM606 is the pistons and the rods. Heads/valves must be different too...
How about the crank?

Yes, pistons, rods, cam. Valves are same size, but there may be differens on valve stem. Crank is same. I have my own engine om602 N/A crank.

Here is couple pictures of differens on multivalve tbo vs N/A what i have made of.

Excellent pictures, jeemu.

Here are some pictures of a 1.25L OM606. Cool

I will be using this to take precise measurements in order to make a CAD file and then machine an adapter plate so I can run a GM 4L80E automatic behind my OM606. It weighs just over 100lbs - so shipping costs are greatly reduced.

Beers,

Matt

Outstanding. I hope to get my 1.25L 606 on the mill pretty soon to get some measurements. What did you use for a CMM? Make sure you get the crankshaft thrust measurement too. Get everything...we'd rather be overwhelmed with data Smile

The GM transmission side of the adapter plate is pretty much done in CAD (Solidworks '08). That was easy since the GM stuff has been around forever and they're soooooo popular.

I know - at first I thought it was a sin to do this as well.
The block got window'd - so that was a boat anchor. The crank was far from being in good shape...couple of the rod journals looked iffy.

You have to break a few eggs every once in a while...

I used a Brown&Sharpe CMM, can't remember the exact model it is.

I took everything off the intermediate plate, not the block, so there might be a few tenths to a thou error in where the crank is, that's why I'm waiting until I make my adapter to release anything, don't want anybody making a $400 wall placard because my data was bad...

I'm using Inventor 2K11, and pcdmis spits out dxf for it's data, so it's all good.
