The cheap way :
(Stole this from a ricer board somewhere, they dont mention a heat gun, you will want one and possible some touch up paint. Heat keeps the paint from flaking.)
Step 1: Find an old baseball bat and some fat friends

Luckily Gio plays baseball, so he had a ton of bats, we just grabbed an old beat up one.

Jack the car up and place the bat between the tire and fender, then lower the jack completely so that the bat is now stuck between the tire and fender. Make sure you place the bat at either the front or rear of the rear fender.

Open your trunk and get a few of your bigger buddies to sit on the trunk ledge so that the car sinks and puts even more pressure on the bat between the tire and fender.


Step 2: Roll it!

Find a trustworthy friend and have him hold the bat and press down on it, getting it as vertical as possible. Turn on your car and keep the door or window open so you can communicate with your trusty friend. If you placed the bat at the front of the fender, but your car in reverse and slowly roll it backwards while your trusty friend pressed the bat and moves with it as it rolls along the fender backwards. Do the same if you placed the bat at the rear of the fender, except with the car in 1st gear or Drive if you have a step.

Repeat this about 3 or 4 times. Jack up your car and remove the bat. Your fender should now be rolled!

I'm running 205/60R15 tires on aluminum disk wheels from a 560SEL. I chose that size because it was less than 5% overall diameter difference from the stock 14" steels.

I assume thats 205. How wide is the wheel? I have 215/60 on there now I think. Not nearly as sticky as the 225 but slides just about right. I really need to get the TD bar on the front to minimize roll more.

I assume thats 205. How wide is the wheel? I have 215/60 on there now I think. Not nearly as sticky as the 225 but slides just about right. I really need to get the TD bar on the front to minimize roll more.

Right, that should have been 205/60R15. Its about the same as the 14", just a bigger rim for less sidewall flex and about 1/2" wider.

Mine is .3% to slow I think. At any rate I had much less rubbing with shorter sidewall and narrower tire than the last set on these rims. I switched because of availability, pricing and economy. These seem to be much better than the Falken's just not nearly as sticky.

I'm happy with these cheap-o $65 Warrior tires on dry pavement (its hard to make them break loose) but they suck @ss on snow and ice.

on the rolling of fenders...
this works with the rice burning tin can cars, but good luck on MB's
especially you W123/W126 drivers.. the metal on these cars is easily three times as thick.

I just rolled the fenders and rear quarters on both my W124 and W107
and while the 124 was thinner then the older cars, still WAY thicker
then the jap stuff.

If you used a curved shaped autobody dolly, and a larger hammer you would have much better luck

He's right. The TD was a beotch to get the lip to curve under. Once it was started it wasn't to terribly bad but it took twice as many repetitions to get it right as compared to any other car I've done this to. I run a 275/40R17 in the rear of my car and they don't rub at all anymore.

The fronts how ever I had to roll the fenders and space my tie rods in a bit like a 1/4 in on each side

15x7.5 ET 24? + 3mm shim. The only thing that matters is the front afaik. 17" will clear the tierods.

I got the rack for free from a friend, without the cedar strip mind you, I added that. its a Malco rack, definately german, just have no idea weather its oem or after market. I also cut out some of the height and re- welded the rack so it sits closer to the roof. i am currently constructing a wind deflector for it.
but honestly Its a whimpy peice of crap, i still manage to truck around wheels and tires, welders and other heaviy things. but it is flimsy, resonates on the highway, and is generally cheap.
