alright guys im new to these benz diesels, but not new to diesels, i currently have a 12v cummins, and today picked up a 83 240d 4spd with 110k on it, i have owned 7.3 powerstrokes, 6.2 gm, 1.6 vw, e7 mack, and have worked on all sorts of diesels, i got this thing for next to nothing and its pretty clean, only thing is, its been sitting for about a year and the battery is dead, so i jumped it and when you go to rev it up it seems like it does pretty much nothing, if you hold it wide open it will slowly rev up and eventually wind out but you have to hold it its not responsive at all, im going to start with the fuel filters the spin on and the in line one and see if that helps that might just be it, the restriction, but if thats not the problem then what do you guys suggest

Are you hitting the MAX stop on the back of the IP? Got air in the fuel lines? When you open fuel cap does it hiss?

anyone know what the point of that butterfly is, i wedged it open, it seems like it would just be restriction in the intake

Thats the point, to restrict the intake so more exhaust gas flows through the EGR.
