Please forgive me if this has been covered, I'm using the somewhat limited slow browser on my Blackberry for lack of a home computer at the moment.

I have a leak that I'm having trouble locating, it seems to be between the IP and the engine, I believe it started as an oil leak, but I smell diesel fuel after the car has been run, do IPs tend to leak? Any other ideas? I have a spare complete engine, how difficult to swap IPs if that is what is leaking?

Thanks in advance!

There is a paper gasket between the block and the pump. This would leak oil.

Diesel would likely leak from other places like nearby hoses and banjo bolts.

It might be a good idea to pull your dipstick and smell for that same diesel smell; it is not unheard of for the IP to leak diesel into the oil.
