Hi guys.

I just bought E320cdi 2000.

How impossible is it to swap the engine and transmission into my G wagen?

Is it doable? I guess I need all the engine wiring? Do the computer need all the sensores ans etc.

You also need the dash cluster, ignition key and computer from the same car.

i own 3 G wagens and 2 of them have 606a fitted with mechanical IP's.

can the 320cdi run without the electronics i wonder ? are you a member of the various G wagen clubs on the net ?

btw, good luck with this project, and keep us posted.

the CDI engine is a common rail engine... It cant run without electronics, the fuel pressure behind the injectors are constant, and the injectors are opened by an electronic pulse... Under given circumstances many times each time the cylinder compresses..
As you may understand, this is insanely precise timings...
But, this danish bmw project.. (yellow 3series tourer) I think this was fitted with a mechanical pump, and normal pressure operated injectors... but the works this will require..

The cost for the standalone system as far as the Landrover Jaguar TDV6 is concerned is £3560. I looked into it a couple of months ago and walked away from that idea.

Does it include engine, gearbox and three months vacation in Rio de Janeiro?

I wish! I started looking because I noticed the Jaguar TDV6 engine and box were relatively cheap. I saw complete units for £1500 which isn't for nothing but its 270BHP stock and they were all pretty low mileage and really good engines. Trouble is its twice the engine cost for the electronics to make it run.
I have a 605 and mechanical pump for the project now.
