Have decided to install Euro Lights on my 85 wagon so im in need of help.
I have read that there are many different types (high spec, low spec, vacuum controlled etc)

Need to know what all that means.
Also will i need a wiring kit? If so where can i acquire it?

If any one has a set and want to offer them hit me up. I would desire the simplest adaptable set of euro lights.

The euro headlights off ebay are pretty good, Passed my expectations on quality and are holding up very well. they took about ten minutes to install for each side and look great.

I would go with those as they are pretty cheap and you get them new.

Plus, as I found out reading an other thread, you can use a U.S. spec Tail light harness plug out of a scrap yard 123 and it is the same plug as the (Euro head light plug) that you buy on E bay for like $10. either way, you can just disassemble your headlight plug and replug your wires in to the donor socket plug, then you dont have to cut any wiring on your car, just splice in a wire off your parking light lead for your "City lights" that come on the Euro headlights, or if you dont want to splice anything, just dont even hook them up.
Thats how I did it on my 300D and my 190E I just didnt know about the U.S. tail light plug being the same as the euro headlight plug.

As long as they're from the same style body you should be fine

Living in a far flung outpost of Euroland if there's anything I can help with give me a shout. The difference between 'high spec' and 'low spec' can only be the wattage of the bulb fitted. The vacuum control (do you not have that in the US?) is to vary the height of the beam if there's a load in the back. Not required to operate the lights and can be ignored if not required over there. Just adjust the beam and leave alone.

My understanding is that the W123 Euro headlamps have a glass face. W123 US headlamps have bare headlamps with a plastic surround. Originally the W123 US headlamps used a sealed-beam main lamp and an H3 inner "fog" lamp, but many people replace the sealed-beam main lamp with an aftermarket H4 headlamp from Cibie, Bosch, Hella, or other manufacturers. Daniel Stern Lighting is an authoritative online source of aftermarket headlamps.

The Euro headlamp with round reflectors is the earlier type and is called the "low spec" headlamp.

The Euro headlamp with square reflectors is the later type and is called the "high spec" headlamp.

Here, "low" or "high" has nothing to do with wattage. Both specs use an H4 bulb.

The original high-specs were manufactured by Bosch. If memory serves, the original low-specs were manufactured by Hella. Someone correct me if I'm mistaken here.

Depo currently makes reproduction high-specs. No one is making reproduction low-specs.

Vacuum control headlamps have a knob on the dashboard which lets you adjust the aim. There is plumbing involved.

Here I must boast a little. Yesterday I bought an immaculate pair of non-vacuum Bosch high-specs, no flaws in the glass faces, reflectors look new, locally for $175.

I have a pair of the round H4 sealed beam replacements I got from a place called Delta lighting, something like that. They had crystal lenses, ultra clear and super bright. I ended up putting some Depo euro lamps on the car, the regular glass lens is not as clear, and the beam cutoff isn't as sharp and defined. So if you want improved lighting, just get the round ones and makesure they have lead or maybe titanium crystal lenses, if you just want the car to look cooler then there is a seller on eBay that occasionally has the Depo reproduction euro lamps for like $98, I think the seller is socalvwaudiparts or something along those lines

also i have one of those vacuum switches in my car that adjusts the lights( my car had euro lights at some point and the previous owner got rid of them), are those switches worth anything to anyone?

The depo lights fit and look nice but do not have the vacuum adjustments.

My signature pic are these DEPO light with Hid's 6k in the standard spot and 10k in the fog lights i had to mound the ballast's out side of the light in the engine compartment. But they where the older one that are bigger. i suspect that the newer smaller ones might fit inside the lights.
