I'd prefer a purely hydraulic auto, not an electronic one but can the hydraulic ones be made to handle the power & torque?
Hi, I'm planning on putting an OM605 into a w201 & I plan to try to get as much power out of it as I can reliably but I also want keep the interior looking pretty much stock so which auto boxes should I be looking at & what models of Merc do they come from.

I believe they were 722.4 transmissions like the w201, thing is I'm not sure they will handle big power & torque, I want to know which auto box would be the best option for a highly tuned 605.
There is at least one other guy in Australia with an OM605 in a w201, he was getting 540hp at the rear wheels.

04-18-2014, 03:54 PM #8There are a few w201 cars with 722.6s in them. I have atleast 2-3 customers in europe running them. I know it is tight but the 722.6 really is only a little bulkier than the 722.3 transmission but not really any taller or wider. They are basically the same length. I have not heard of anyone having trouble fitting one in.
