Got a big problem with my OM603, it starts good and runs well but im getting white instead of black smoke, and it smells like barbeque/ burning lighterfluid (unburnt diesel?)
Have checked the ip timing 5-6 times and it is 14 degrees after, since the pump is 0,5 degrees late in the bench.
Just changed my headgasket but not sure if everything is ok since it puffs a bit from the crankvent. My injectors are cheked and recheked 120-135 bar openingpressure and just did an compression test around 24 bar on every cylinder! Open for any suggestions running out of ideas.. Just want to know if its worth fixing or if i should just get another enginge.

Thankful for any help//Reed from Sweden

check that engine is on tdc for number 1 cylinder and not 6
engine might need turned full revolution to suit pump.

it's at TDC for cyl1.

Forgot to mention that im running it N/A right now, And it runs like a turbo enginge, slow from the start and then increasing power and im not running ALDA right now for more fuel.

if you are not missing air.. maybe inlet is too small? i had the same problem..rubber inlet elements would suck-in when much air was needed, the effect was the same - white smoke..

Yes pretty much, white/black smoke on idle, and then more and more smoke when i rev!

I have tried running it without intake also and right now im just using a turbo intake but its just sucking air not blowing.

Starting to suspect that the turbo is the issue.. The white smoke could be oil and the performance decrease could me the turbo not spooling and creating backpressure so that the exhaustgases cant escape?

Removed ALDA means = 100% fuel

The ALDA limits the fuel until there is boost pressure

Yeah i know, bad choice of words! I meant that i removed it from the pump to get max fuel all the way! Otherwise i get full fuel at 0.7 bar.

Try putting the ALDA back on until the turbo is pushing boost through the engine Evan the big pump guys need them to keep them from smoking at idle!!!
