That's cool, maybe he can explain further why he only chose to make it 130cc? 10mm could do 300cc easily I bet, unless their is some limiting factor on the mw

talked to him about it

"one of a kind"
so he probably wont be doing more of those yet, "they would be a heck lot more expensive"
(more work? more expensive parts? i dont know) but i understood it more as a one time thing, he had a one night stand with the MW pump, and went back to the almighty wifey, M-pump Smile

Hi Not so much moore work, but alot of moore cost. Element is Bosch original and you all know that it cost alot moore than 60 euro/pc
This pump is set to 130-140cc, OM617 cant handle any Moore without temperature problems.

I suppose you mean EGT temps?
I'm sure measures could be taken to lower them, such as water injection, lower compression maybe, big air to air intercooler, ream PC holes?
Am I on the right track, or out of my mind? Tongue

617 cant flow enough air with its reverse flow cylinder head, as well as being cast iron it cannot absorb as much heat from the combustion event. Coupled with their small port size and inlet manifold being right on top of the exhaust manifold the heat issue becomes even worse. The 617 is a good motor for low down torque with stone ax simplicity and reliability.

Very good point Duncan, It never crossed my mind about the cross flow heads on the newer engines.

I should've caught on to that because in the tractor pulling world the John Deere 466cubic inch engines can't touch the international 466 for the pure fact that international runs cross flow heads and John Deere doesn't.

So extreme head work would be required to run more fuel through them, and from what I remember the rods can't take much more than 30psi anyhow so it's kind of a lose-lose situation with trying to squeeze hp out of a 617.

I bet those 10mm elements make a nice quick injection though!

Yeah no doubt, the 7.5's in my m-pump made a noticeable difference. Bit noisier at idle is the only down side. And blowing up my engine haha.

WTF? Engine blow up? Idle chatter can be reduced if you set the timíng a bit later than stock.

Not sure the blow up yet. On the way home as i turned the corner to my road i head some awful clattering and the engine was skipping then it stopped dead. Coasted into my drive way. Engine turns a few degrees one way then stops, turns the other way and stops. I think it dropped a valve, which blows as their all new less then a few thousand ago....
