First post on this forum, looking for some information on the 722.6 for a conversion in my Land Rover 90.

Having done a bit of searching and reading on this forum I think I am looking for a 722.634 gearbox. I want the higher ratio W5A580 version for the gearing but the strength is an added bonus.

Can someone confirm what model Mercedes in the UK would have been fitted with a W5A580 that will bolt straight onto an OM606?

Thanks in advance.

They are the same, w211 have some internal improvments but they both will bolt on. Also w203 c270cdi.

The ebay seller has given me this number from the box: r140271 26 01.

Is that correct for a 2001 c270cdi?

You can see it on the last picture, little square on the side of the housing. Sometimes numbers are hard to see.

Right the number he has sent me doesn't tie up to the list I have.... its 722640. The number isn't on the list!

Any idea what it is then?

722.640 seems to be newer version from w211 or w203, 722.634 is from w210. I belive they only have internal differences and maybe different flexidisk flange.

Found the information in your thread!

The 722.640 is from either: W211 220CDI/270CDI/280CDI/

So from that it looks like it should bolt straight onto the OM606 Big Grin. Assuming the 647.961 has the same bellhousing pattern.
