I'm doing an engine swap from a 603 (350) engine in my G-class to a 606.962. I was thinking to use the whole pump/housing assembly from my 603 engine since it fit but when I started researching in EPC I got second thoughts. The 606 pump has a 72mm impeller and a housing to fit this. The 603 has only 69mm and the pulley is also smaller on the 606 pump (approx 2cm lower diameter). If I where to reuse the 606 housing I only need to make a M14 threaded hole in it to fit the water temp sensor. Is it a good solution to use the 606 parts?

Use the bigger pump, it makes quite a difference.  Also the later 606 versions came with a smaller diameter pulley to spin the pump faster. 
The last version of the E-class fan was, in my opinion better for moving air, but it looses the manual override feature that came with the G fan hub.

A6052000820 72mm water pump
A6032050110 Smaller diameter water pump pulley
A6062000123 E300 11-blade fan (not the hub)
A6062000122 E300 Fan hub (thermostatic) - get the Sachs version, it is better

The combination of all those parts has kept my G cool in off-road crawling at 45C.

Ok. I will source a M14x1.5 thread maker (don't know the English word) tomorrow and modify the housing so I can make myself a 72mm version. Thanks for the reply.

If you measure your pulley's diameter I'll measure the small one I got and give you the part number. From what I recall mine was approx 13.5cm in diameter.

Today I drilled a 12.5mm hole and used a M14x1.5 tap to make threads and it was a complete failure. I thought it should be easy to drill a straight hole so I just did it on free hand. The result was a hole that was not 90 degrees on the sealing surface so I have to buy a new housing. I have done some research in EPC and it's hard to see what housing that would fit a 72mm impeller but from my work it is the one with part number A 603 201 08 01. Can anyone else with some EPC experience double check this for me? There are six part numbers for hosuing for the 350 engine so it was really easy to look at the wrong one.

The housing that was on my 606 engine that I pulled out of a W210 missed threads for the water temp sensor. I bet the difference is that the 603 housing has these threads to fit the water temp sensor.

Thanks. Mine is 155mm dia. Engine 606-962-22 014 824

BTW, my engine had a spare tapped hole in the head just behind where the top hose fits. I used that for a fan sensor switch. Does yours not have that?

OM605 and 606 NA has a water/oilcooler on the oilpan. With 2 pipes coming from the pump housing.

Then I've fixed this Big Grin I tried drilling/tapping the W210 cover first on free hand but failed bad.. You can clearly see that this is not 90 degrees on the housing. Ended up strapping it in the Column drilling machine and make M16 threads for a plug in the stock place to mount the temperature sensor and then I made M14 threads on the other side of the pump to fit the temperature sensor. I can't imagine that it matters if it's before or after the water pump as the temperature should be the same anyways.

Thanks Alan...however, feeding the Vin of the car my engine came from into the EPC (WDB 210 0252A523811) produces this same part number for the 155mm dia pulley that's on my car. This car was scrapped after engine removal but the pulley is the same as came with the engine. Any thoughts?

Thanks Alan...however, feeding the Vin of the car my engine came from into the EPC (WDB 210 0252A523811) produces this same part number for the 155mm dia pulley that's on my car. This car was scrapped after engine removal but the pulley is the same as came with the engine. Any thoughts?
