Hey guys, I've been looking for muffler options for my 85 300D turbo, but haven't found too many audio clips. What all have you guys tried? I heard a Flowmaster on YouTube but it sounded kinda ricey.  I'm more interested in a deeper, sporty tone.

I agree with nzscott. Unless you do a ton of highway driving. My 82 300D is loud on the highway running 3k+ rpm. But it's more of a drone than it is being actually loud

At most I would buy something straight through, just like a resonator or something a muffler company would say "resembles open headers"

Try Spintech Mufflers. They have a design that beats all of them. There diesel muffler is a true diesel muffler, there is a difference in design from a gas muffler.

Hmm, I didn't think about that, I should have known that there would be a difference between petrol and diesel mufflers.  This gives me an additional angle to search.  The tone that I'm after, I heard it on an Aston Martin.  I know that I won't be able to replicate that perfectly, but if I could get somewhat close to that, I'd be happy.  Thanks for the lead on Spintech Mufflers, I'll look into them.

I don't want to do a straight pipe, I'm more turning this car into a family car to take on road trips.  Seeing as I don't have a family (yet) for this I have plenty of time to work on this project.  And with the price of new cars today, I'll still be saving $$$.

I have simply removed my backbox on my W210, makes a much nicer noise and doesn't drone on the motorway - saved a fair bit of weight as well!

You might go to a 3" exhaust also for some more performance. The stock exhaust is quiet but restrictive. Most of your diesel mufflers are for 3" and up tubing also.
