Howdy y'all, havent posted in a while but I'm planning on starting a new project soon and figured I might as well get a thread started on it. The plan is to swap the om601 (2.2) from my dad's 190D (he mostly drives his MX5 now and the w201 is just sitting), into our 1984 Ford Ranger (Roscoe). As some of you may know, I bought an '86 Toyota 4x4 pickup (factory turbo 22rte) last fall and have mostly been driving it around, as its a little handier around the ranch where I work haha. However, this gas engine nonsense isn't really for me, and I think it's time for a diesel pickup. Ideally I'd swap a turbo om602 into the Toyota, or even a 1.9tdi (either may happen eventually), but that would mean having no truck to drive in the meantime, and I don't have either of those engines laying around. I do have a 601 though, and the Ranger to swap it into, and the skills (is like to think so anyway) to make it happen. I'm hoping to get the engines pulled this week so I can start comparing them. The om601 has a 5-speed (5th overdrive, I forget the model number) mated to it, and the Ford ll23 has a Toyo Kogyo tk5 (again, 5-speed, 5th overdrive) mated to it.  I've done some research and compared gear spreads on them, not too much difference between them, the Ford has 3.73 rear gears, I'm guessing the w201 is close to that (from what I've read it could be 3.23 or 3.91, I guess they changed in 1985 along with the gear spread in the trans, not sure what month our car is), so I'm not too worried about gearing being an issue. From my initial measurements, it looks like there is enough room for the 601 to fit,  although I'm not sure yet if there will be any clearance issues with the cross member or not.

In the works: A/W IC, adjust pump, turbo rebuild (w/60 trim comp wheel)
