I'm doing away with the belt driven cooling fan to replace with electric.  My question is do I still need to run the pulley to spin the waterpump or is it driven internally?

Yep... you still need to run the waterpump from the belt, also the alternator.

I experimented for a while with electric fans. Eventually I switched back to the fluid clutch operated fan.

The viscous fan on the OM605/606 does the bulk of the cooling. You'll need a very decent electric fan to match it. Also the viscous fan is pretty reliable- even when the clutch is worn it still cools fairly well.

Ok Thanks. I'll try an electric fan in place of the viscous and put the 2 factory ones on the other side of the radiator. Must help getting rid of the ac condenser blocking the radiator. I would guess that disrupts efficiency quite a it.

I guess the question would be is why you are eliminating the factory fan. Do you have a cooling issue. The factory fan and shroud should be more than enough to cool.

Reason being is I'm swapping the 606 into a 190e and the fitment is tight. I hope the e fan will be adequate. ..

190 2.6 radiator has a pair of PACET or SPAL fans which are 2" thick, which is what most use for 606 into 190, along with 2.6 rad, though which I think would be too small IMHO

Actually, 2.6 rad seems like the perfect size but I'm finding it too tall (for my setup at least). Where did you hear that it wasn't adequate?
