Bought a set off front brake calipers with partnr 0014200083 and 0014200183. They are from w124 500e/r129 600SL.

I have r129 spindels but there is no threads on the calipers. CC on 500e calipers to mount on spindle is 100mm and on standard w124 brakes it is 110mm.

Im confused. ?

those look just like a set of calipers i pulled off of a 1995 s600. the spindles on that car were threaded and im not sure it used the same front suspension set up as a 129.

I don`t have experience with iron calipers but I have installed W220 front calipers (also for 320x30mm rotor) to different models like W201/W124/W463.
Fits with adapter.
ML(from 2002 models) front calipers are basically same as W220 but for bigger rotor 345x32mm. 17" is minimum wheel diameter.

Maybe some private seller could offer you better price.
We use to pay up to 100 euros for pair of W220 calipers.
Maybe was 330mm discs. Last time I installed W220 calipers to W463 rear axle....Cheapest conversion ever :Smile
You can use C32/C55 W203 front rotors as well. 345x30mm (ML has 345x32mm like mine but I made aluminum center parts). Minimum 17" wheels required.

Good. W203 calipers are basically bolt on with c32/55 rotors.
Just need to use some shims for correct offset.

Are there any calipers worth upgrading to on the 124 that will still fit under 16in wheels?

I have some used 400e calipers but if theres something larger but does not require 17 inch wheels id rather upgrade before rebuilding these 400e ones.

W124 - I'm using R129 iron 4 pots with W210 16" alloys (A210 401 06 02) and they JUST fit (1MM of clearance).
They don't poke out much from under the arches either at j7.5".

I have a set of iron W140 4 pots and they are MASSIVE and just don't fit my car/any of my wheels.

W124 om606 HX40 finished and it's a beauty 450bhp/456ft-lbs

If you have twin piston fronts with vented rotors you are doing OK. The later wagons had something like 294mm rotors with cast iron four pot fronts. Rear rotors were also vented.

Early 500e was 300mm. The catch is that the front calipers were Brembo, and aluminum, i.e. several pounds lighter than the cast iron equivalent.

Later 500e had the 320mm, but back to cast ATE 4-pots. They have a bit more fade resistance obviously, but are much heavier than the aluminum Brembos. I am not sure they will fit the 16". I believe 300mm is the largest you can go with 16". Check the 500eboard.
