So I purchased a ML270 CDI last year for ECU development work.

Extremely slow, 160 horsepower and stuck in limp mode with an EGR fault. Drove it just one day before replacing the Bosch ECU with my own design DID1 ECU. Big improvement in throttle response and power.

Next came a turbo upgrade, a GT2359V off an OM648 engine modified to fit, well worth upgrading to an electronic actuator, vacuum is just the wrong way to control a turbocharger, direct electronic control is so much more precise.

Water/methanol injection, would never tune a diesel without it.

The stock high pressure pump was a bottleneck, unable to keep up with even the stock injectors. CP3L110 pump off a V8 Mercedes to the rescue.

The stock intercooler was no good whatsoever, looked big but didn't cool worth a damn. Upgrade was required.

Original 0-100km/h specified 11.4 seconds. Now does it in 5.9 seconds, good daily driver. Will likely change the turbo again to make it a little faster.
