I don't think u can use a inline pump in a DI 602 .98X
Unless one u making the mistake of confusing engines...
602.91x 2.5 n/a IDI
602.96x 2.5 T IDI
602.98x 2.9 DI
602.92x 2.9 IDI very rare...
https://en.mercedesclub.cz/engine_detail.php?id=308
Or someone correct me if i'm wrong, as this 602 as many variants including builds under licence.
And as my knowledge goes, if u want to use an inline pump in a .980 u have to go to a huge assle... as it does not have space for the advance mechanism. It need to be cut in the block...
That is the reason why your engine is not reving up....
Anythimg else PM me .

.98X engines are fitted with bosch VE EDC control... that the name of the thing, and they are controlled by a small ECU.
To increase fuel in this system a diferent programing on the ECU is needed ... simple as that...
U can add a mechanichal solution, of course, and that mentioned Iveco pump is one, but its not its not a simple direct fit...
A 5 CYL VE Right turn need to be built from both pumps. Besides swapping parts and assemblig , other small details need to be calibrated by knownelege tunning fellas... its not something u can do in your garage in an afternoon. of course u can try ....

I reccomend keeping the original EDC pump and ECU. It's not that hard today, there is a lot more knowledge than 10+ years ago when mechanical was the only way to go.
You need the original ECU, and
1) fitted with CR1 IMMO emulator. All you need is the engine wiring (already on the engine), MAP and TPS sensors.
2)If your donor car is 96 then it's probably pre EIS then it's pretty simple to also fit the IMMO transponder and the IMMO control module and the coil around the ignition switch.
3) If you have a post 97( 97/01 i think ???) car then it has the electronic ignition switch EIS, which is more difficult to retrofit but still doable. You need the EIS switch, the steering lock and that's pretty much it.
4) Baldur's DSL1 standalone ECU.
