RE: Craiglist alert thread - sassparilla_kid - 04-13-2014 Buy that immediately RE: Craiglist alert thread - JustPassinThru - 04-14-2014 (04-12-2014, 11:45 AM)mbz123(04-10-2014, 10:03 PM)lgreeley83 Bring it to me assembled in Chicago and I'll take it at 3k ;-)2K to drop in a motor! SRSLY? One problem seems to be that no one except me trusts that if Zeitgeist (the seller-to-me) says it's a good engine, it really is a good engine. Another problem is, there are a lot of junker rustbucket '87 300TD's running around in Oregon. As often as not, there's one on Portland or Eugene CL for $1,700 to $2,000. Therefore, people presume that $1,700 is a reasonable price to pay for a fully assembled, smoothly-running one, and they hope they will get one with an interior as nice as this one's for that price. Zeitgeist himself quoted me $900 to install the engine. That's actually a bargain. The local indie wants $4,000 to swap a good OM603 into a car which has a blown OM603. So I'm thinking, what I'll end up doing is, I'll assemble it, see if anyone will take it for $2,500, probably not, so I'll settle for $2,000. And then if lgreely83 or winmutt wants me to drive it 1,500 miles to Chicago or 2,000 miles to Atlanta, I'll charge $1,000 for the fuel, time, hotels, and airfare back. Ergo, three grand. Seriously. Make sense? RE: Craiglist alert thread - mbz123 - 04-15-2014 JustPassinThru Make sense?Perfect. ;D NOW, stop with this: (04-14-2014, 06:23 PM)JustPassinThru ...So I'm thinking, what I'll end up doing is... and ALL this: (04-14-2014, 06:23 PM)JustPassinThru One problem seems to be...yahhh (04-14-2014, 06:23 PM)JustPassinThru it really is a good engine.I really like them french fried taters (04-14-2014, 06:23 PM)JustPassinThru Another problem is...mmhmm (04-14-2014, 06:23 PM)JustPassinThru As often as not......Therefore, people presume.....and they hope they will get...yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwn (04-14-2014, 06:23 PM)JustPassinThru Zeitgeist himself quoted...actually a bargain...The local indie ...a blown OM603.blah blah blah blah and wah wah wah wah (04-14-2014, 06:23 PM)JustPassinThru if anyone will take it...And then if..wah wah (04-14-2014, 06:23 PM)JustPassinThru ...for the fuel, time, hotels, and airfare...Ergo, three grand.whew! now DO this: (04-14-2014, 06:23 PM)JustPassinThru ...I'll assemble it... BECAUSE this: (04-10-2014, 10:03 PM)lgreeley83 Bring it to me assembled in Chicago and I'll take it at 3k ;-) now you see why I'm this; (04-14-2014, 06:23 PM)MBZ123 SRSLY? 2K to drop in a motor! And you need time to think about... wat... exactly? The wagon is all but sold, buyer waiting to hand over payment and you'd rather rehearse your Shakespeare in front of company. SRSLY? How rude. I'm sure a few of us here would love to be head to toe grease all day, every day until we set off eastbound on I-70 for a Chi-town delivery. O ya, happens to be the bestest most besutifullest time of year to travel that route, too. MBZ123 PS - A lil over three hundy in fuel to get there. And a little suggestion: Buy a return ticket on the California Zephyr. You'll never forget the trip back either. Yes, it seems you've been presented with what is known as a "golden opportunity" kiddo. RE: Craiglist alert thread - JustPassinThru - 04-15-2014 > The wagon is all but sold, buyer waiting to hand over payment, and you'd rather rehearse your Shakespeare... I don't know about that "all but sold" bit; lgreely83 *did* put a wink smiley at the end of his offer. I suspect you are taking him too literally. lgreely83, if you're seriously interested, PM me. RE: Craiglist alert thread - lgreeley83 - 04-16-2014 Seems pretty fair to me. That drive across the plains I'd say a car porter should get extra money for not crashing from falling asleep due to Boredoms. RE: Craiglist alert thread - lgreeley83 - 04-16-2014 OK I had to reread to see what's going on. That was really only semi serious. 1 I need a job first so my time is maybe June before I add to my fleet. 2 asking someone to drive across the country is a big endeavor. I imagine that offer is not so quick and easy. Selling local at a hit in the pocket may save more money than risking driving 1000 or more mile. A breakdown could add multiple Days at hotels. Days away from work. General headaches and frustrations. Also don't forget the highway pirates trying to steal your booty. RE: Craiglist alert thread - JustPassinThru - 04-16-2014 Yes, I didn't think it was anything but light humor. Sometimes we giants take ourselves too seriously. That's why Demosthenes (not Shakespeare) invented philippics http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippic ...which, when Cicero tried imitating them, got Cicero's hands chopped off by one of his targets, Mark Anthony ...which in turn was probably the real reason why Tacitus invented taciturnicity http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/taciturn and now my goatee is beginning to itch. I'm bored, I'll bite... - mbz123 - 09-20-2014 (09-19-2014, 06:56 PM)Edian727 that is super DUMB if someone buys it! there, fixed that for you "Those few things and you are on your way." ROTFF!!! He says this after informing everyone that the frame needs GUSSETING, the cab AND bed need to be MOUNTED, NOTHING resembling a braking system exists, NOR a wiring harness for that matter, n oh ya, a fuel tank and air pump will need to be figured out. This is a joke right? This clown has what amounts to around fifteen hundred duckets in scrap and in some hallucinatory state he says he wants WAT???? As if it couldn't get better, he divulges the small fact that HE has no time to finish, FOR HIMSELF OR A CUSTOMER! But why you ask? Simple, his business is booming! If he had no time, why start in on the project? If biz is so great, why not hire someone to do the work you've become disenchanted with? Always better odds of selling something that's operating even if highly customized to YOUR tastes. But alas, he stumbles forward in his grandelusion and lists off possible trades (MOST HAVING VALUE!) and has the gall to demand any potential trades not listed be "REAL." Because asking for outrageous $$$$$ or a running AND titled vehicle in exchange for his mountain of metal is so "REAL," did I get this right? Jimeny Cricket. Want proof he isn't even real? What did we learn about those individuals that use the phrase "honestly" or "to tell you the truth" when talking to you? Mmmmhmmm We also learned about the birth rate of suckers which is why he put an ad up. My money is on him growing impatient, tho, with waiting for his sucker and heading down to the swap after he takes everything to pieces. Anyone giving odds???? And guess how much he'll total at the flea market? About fifteen sounds "REAL." amiriteoramirite.jpg That reminds me, anybody know if a craigs turd thread exists here? If not, I have a suggestion for its christening post 8-D MBZ123 RE: Craiglist alert thread - mbz123 - 09-20-2014 Not my speed, buuuuuuuuuut you may be on to something! The 300TD, aka the W123 estate or S123, was sold in the US market from MY1979 to MY1985. Those sold in '79 and '80 had normally aspirated power plants. A few TD's rolled out in January '86, but the last model year for the W123 lineup was 1985. Full disclosure - that's neither my wagon nor am I affiliated in any way with seller. Just bringing attention to it. As listed, it's a decent deal. Unless the underside resembles Swiss cheese, which seems unlikely, it could be a score for someone local.
