RE: Propane - Rudolf_Diesel - 09-04-2009 Too much of anything is bad! I found this site and it seemed interesting: http://www.ecoshot.com.au/links.html The Gov't even gives you an incentive for the system. RE: Propane - ForcedInduction - 09-04-2009 (09-04-2009, 04:12 PM)Rudolf_Diesel The Gov't even gives you an incentive for the system. LPG is also much cheaper there. RE: Propane - Kiwibacon - 09-04-2009 (09-04-2009, 12:58 PM)ForcedInduction Propane isn't good in a diesel, especially with high compression and indirect injection. The compression pressure alone is enough to ignite (detonate) the propane but you also have the glowing hot ball inside the prechamber. That is my video on my 4wd. The LPG fumigation rate is 0.4% of the incoming air, the engine is cold and running at idle. It's a direct injection Isuzu with compression ~18:1. If it detonates in that at idle, then what's it going to be doing in an engine with higher compression when warm and with extra air heat from the turbo? |
