RE: 1991 300D - Duncansport - 09-11-2013 (09-11-2013, 03:51 PM)Jetmugg Very cool project. I have an OM602 turbo in a 190D. So shipper was'nt horrible from here. I used the USPS and it was around $100. Best of it was there in less then 4 days RE: 1991 300D - Duncansport - 09-12-2013 Pictures of the H&R cup kit as well as new rear control arms. RE: 1991 300D - raysorenson - 09-15-2013 Care to share the wire diameter of these springs? RE: 1991 300D - Duncansport - 09-17-2013 (09-11-2013, 11:56 AM)raysorenson Did you go with a red plate? What disc? Clutchnet's website stinks, so dont rely on their red, blue purple listings. Just call them, they always need to make the stuff from OE parts or full custom. I sent them a 16V pressure plate and disc that they are modifying. They are building a custom friction disc with a HD organic material, don't get caught up in Kevlar or carbon Kevlar as they do not last long and offer only marginal holding power over HD organic, also they glaze very easly is slipped to much. I ran a 6 puk on my old Starion and it held great but was mostly undrivable, so hopefully i don't need to go that route.. RE: 1991 300D - Duncansport - 09-23-2013 (09-15-2013, 05:32 PM)raysorenson Care to share the wire diameter of these springs? Rear is 14mm Front is 14.5mm RE: 1991 300D - Duncansport - 10-24-2013 :::SIGH:::: For those who follow you may have know my car clattered to an end the other night. Brand new valve broke at the top.... Hence my search for a 605 now. RE: 1991 300D - MFSuper90 - 10-24-2013 Ouch, sorry to hear that man. Time to upgrade RE: 1991 300D - raysorenson - 10-24-2013 I'm following. I was gonna do all your valvetrain mods to my motor :-( Any guesses as to the cause? RE: 1991 300D - Duncansport - 10-25-2013 (10-24-2013, 09:39 PM)raysorenson I'm following. I was gonna do all your valvetrain mods to my motor :-( Shitty AE (Federal Mogul) valves. No reason that should have happened to a valve. No sing of overheating, the car doesn't see much time at 6000RPM. The M103 springs are only 20% stiffer then the OM602 springs so i don't believe that there is to much spring tension on them. Besides M103's use larger valves ( read heavier ) and rev higher with the same keepers, retainers ect. RE: 1991 300D - willbhere4u - 10-25-2013 That sucks Can OEM valves be obtained from Mercedes? Is the head salvageable the block looks to be ok minus one piston RE: 1991 300D - Duncansport - 10-25-2013 (10-25-2013, 09:38 AM)willbhere4u That sucks Can OEM valves be obtained from Mercedes? Is the head salvageable the block looks to be ok minus one piston Oh yeah OE valves are in stock in NJ, head the block has a big dent in it..so it's dead. I would need to machine it, press in 1 or 5 liners, new pistons ect... then maybe try to fix the cylinder head. At that point it's cheaper to get a used engine. Pistons are really pricey, RE: 1991 300D - Duncansport - 12-20-2013 OM605 on the Boat....... Thank you JGS600 RE: 1991 300D - Simpler=Better - 12-20-2013 Assuming the 602 and 606 have the same bell pattern can I have your old block and crank for measurements? I only need the rear few inches of block and crank to get it probed out. RE: 1991 300D - Duncansport - 12-20-2013 (12-20-2013, 03:17 PM)Simpler=Better Assuming the 602 and 606 have the same bell pattern can I have your old block and crank for measurements? I only need the rear few inches of block and crank to get it probed out. Sure you can have it. The 601,602,603,604,605,606 M111, M102, M103 and M104 all have the same bolt pattern bell housing. RE: 1991 300D - Duncansport - 01-03-2014 Got the 717.430 all torn down and rebuilt. New syncro's, MB gasket kit and new counter shaft and main shaft bearings. RE: 1991 300D - Duncansport - 01-06-2014 First 605.962 in NH?? Thanks for all that helped! RE: 1991 300D - Duncansport - 01-23-2014 605 Girdle being cut this week. RE: 1991 300D - 95e300dez - 01-24-2014 I just bought a set of Deves rings here is the link. $235 I am putting them in a 95 606. Here is a link http://www.deves.com/devesrings/cars_MERCEDES_BENZ.php RE: 1991 300D - Duncansport - 01-24-2014 (01-24-2014, 03:35 PM)95e300dez I just bought a set of Deves rings here is the link. $235 I am putting them in a 95 606. Here is a link Nice, that's a great price! I just got a set of Gotez's for $230. Sounds like that price is pretty good, I've heard great things about Deves rings in motorcycles. RE: 1991 300D - 95e300dez - 01-24-2014 Yeah I live right here by Import Parts Specialist the guy there talks highly of these rings. He said when he was a mechanic they wouldn't even use Mercedes rings they would get Deves said they sealed a lot better. RE: 1991 300D - Duncansport - 01-25-2014 Good resource to know! RE: 1991 300D - Duncansport - 04-15-2014 So it's been a slow go here, waiting for the machine shop, parts , etc.. But here i have modified the oil pump and oil pan (due to the girdle) Turned down some Ford modular spring seats to fit the head RE: 1991 300D - led-panzer - 05-06-2014 How's the 605 coming? RE: 1991 300D - Duncansport - 05-07-2014 (05-06-2014, 07:36 PM)led-panzer How's the 605 coming? Good, slow but good. the bottom end is all set. Took a bit of time to modify the oil pump, drive chain, oil pan and get the oil jets installed and adjusted. Waiting on the cylinder head, and still trying to buy a flange from KKD (which is proving very difficult ) i may just make my own flange and offer up the drawing. RE: 1991 300D - Duncansport - 11-14-2014 Well its been forever getting my cylinder head done as the exhaust valves were on back order from M-B Germany. Heads done with new guides, seats, valves, springs, lifters, welded cam. The engine is 98% back together and should start next week. Ill get some pictures up soon. Ive also finished building my merge collector. RE: 1991 300D - raysorenson - 11-14-2014 Was the cam welded for a regrind w/same base circle or just to weld the gear to the shaft? Good to hear of progress on this beast. It was already pretty impressive with shitty trans and a 602. RE: 1991 300D - Duncansport - 11-15-2014 (11-14-2014, 07:10 PM)raysorenson Was the cam welded for a regrind w/same base circle or just to weld the gear to the shaft?I welded it due to the know slippage. And with adding double the spring pressure and a 1700 rpm rise in rev limit i didn't want it to slip on the cam RE: 1991 300D - Duncansport - 11-17-2014 https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10205372387293047&set=vb.1349905928&type=2&theater not sure if this will work for you, had the first start up today...:-) RE: 1991 300D - anjay - 11-18-2014 Link doesn't work! RE: 1991 300D - Duncansport - 11-23-2014 http://youtu.be/pm8cFG7FPpM give that a try folks. Got a lot done this weekend, had to make a transmission cross member, lengthen the shift rods, install the shifter, built new wiring harness as well as the other related wiring and vacuum lines all incorporated into into one. Got the assembly installed in the car. Started striping parts off the old 400E loaner car we had. RE: 1991 300D - Duncansport - 11-24-2014 Some pictures RE: 1991 300D - Duncansport - 02-11-2015 RE: 1991 300D - Duncansport - 02-11-2015 well theres some pictures that dont work ;-/. More to follow RE: 1991 300D - raysorenson - 02-12-2015 The manifold work looks great. Are you going to have to rotate that flange? Forum attachment pics don't work for me using Chrome. I have to left click ->open image in new tab. Off-site pics using the img code seem to work fine. |
