RE: My 87 300d superturbo - Insane190d - 09-26-2014 So is there any good info and pics on here on some supercharger / turbo set ups? I have a supercharger off a 3.8l buick that looks like it is a good size and would work good. Not sure really on how to go about with piping and setup Is it worth putting a supercharger on my om603 for instant boost? INFO PLEASE! RE: My 87 300d superturbo - winmutt - 09-26-2014 The intercooler picture thread is probably a good start. That and looking through the projects section. RE: My 87 300d superturbo - Duncansport - 09-26-2014 (09-26-2014, 07:21 AM)Insane190d So is there any good info and pics on here on some supercharger / turbo set ups? Keep it simple, get the right sized urbo an a good manifold and drive it to sort out all the other bugs. If your unhappy with it after you dial it all in THEN try to go for the SC route... RE: My 87 300d superturbo - Insane190d - 09-26-2014 (09-26-2014, 02:13 PM)Duncansport(09-26-2014, 07:21 AM)Insane190d So is there any good info and pics on here on some supercharger / turbo set ups? I think the hx35 is a pretty good match just wanted it to spool around 1800 2000rpm instead or 3000 3500.... RE: My 87 300d superturbo - raysorenson - 09-26-2014 How much boost do you have at 2000? The stocker is around .7-.8 bar at 2k. Is the HX35 very far off from that? RE: My 87 300d superturbo - Insane190d - 09-26-2014 (09-26-2014, 06:28 PM)raysorenson How much boost do you have at 2000? Its been running great. Boost set at around 35psi. Engine and egt stay cool. Tranny getting tired but holding up. Soon will blow. Ran a 15.6 sec 1/4 mile at 101mph and a 15.3 1/4 mile at 98mph. Not too bad for a transmission that slips bad going into 2nd and on an open road. Going to a real track this weekend! RE: My 87 300d superturbo - raysorenson - 10-16-2014 Do you have stock valve springs? RE: My 87 300d superturbo - Insane190d - 10-16-2014 (10-16-2014, 05:47 PM)raysorenson Do you have stock valve springs? Yea RE: My 87 300d superturbo - Insane190d - 11-18-2014 Update on car, still running good. Did a 14.9 quarter mile at 99mph at the track. That's with a very weak transmission, 3rd gear shift slips pretty good so think it would easily do low 14. BUT I have another project in mind. Just picked up a 98 e300 diesel... runs and drives good. 215,000miles. So im thinking of selling the 87 and looking for a newer w124 that has an n/a om606 and swapping the turbo om606 into it. While on the search for one think ill pull the engine outa the 210 and building it. (W210 pretty rusty) Any suggestions or ideas for me? Maybe what should be done with engine before hooking big fuel and air to it. (Fresh headgasket, valve job...ect?) RE: My 87 300d superturbo - winmutt - 11-18-2014 Interesting, was that at 100cc output still? RE: My 87 300d superturbo - Insane190d - 11-18-2014 (11-18-2014, 09:21 AM)winmutt Interesting, was that at 100cc output still? Yea right around that and the throttle lever doesnt even reach for full fuel so probly around 90 to 100cc. RE: My 87 300d superturbo - Insane190d - 11-18-2014 (11-18-2014, 11:20 AM)raysorenson Making use of that 722.6 trans might be a better idea than going to a manual trans. Is that the trans in the 98? Thats what I was thinking. Id like to build it to hold high power and maybe a manual shift valve body? So the 98 trans is a good one to build? Where do you find performance parts for these autos? RE: My 87 300d superturbo - raysorenson - 11-18-2014 The stall converters are more expensive than the run of the mill Chevy and Ford autos, but they're out there. You'll need a controller for it, Olefejer on this board makes a very good one that does a ton of other stuff too. his youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClCJDMTVUa85Os3bDbNaC2w Google 722.6, 5g-tronic, NAG1. You'll find lots of stuff. RE: My 87 300d superturbo - Insane190d - 11-19-2014 (11-19-2014, 01:12 PM)MFSuper90 Nice first gen! Thanks. Its an Arizona truck, no rust. Thats my other project RE: My 87 300d superturbo - Insane190d - 11-22-2014 Anyone have any thoughts on what to do to the 606 while its outta the car? New chain, it has 215,000miles should I put a new headgasket and bolts on or leave it alone /un opened (runs great). Any input RE: My 87 300d superturbo - swatmugga - 11-22-2014 Replace glow Plugs RE: My 87 300d superturbo - Petar - 11-22-2014 I don't think you will have to do the chain so early, only 215 000 miles, but take off the valve cover and check for strectch anyway http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/300145-e300d-timing-chain-stretch.html RE: My 87 300d superturbo - Insane190d - 11-22-2014 (11-22-2014, 04:49 PM)Petar I don't think you will have to do the chain so early, only 215 000 miles, but take off the valve cover and check for strectch anyway Ok thanks. Thought Mercedes recommended around 150,000 miles or so (11-22-2014, 11:15 AM)swatmugga Replace glow Plugs Sounds good ill do that RE: My 87 300d superturbo - Petar - 11-22-2014 Take it easy when removing the glow plugs, they can snap in the head and become a major problem. I recommend getting the engine hot before trying to remove them since the head is aluminium and the glow plugs are steel. Aluminium expands more quickly than steel so they should be easier to remove. RE: My 87 300d superturbo - Insane190d - 11-24-2014 Sounds good. I'd like BIG horsepower 500++ figure ill just go to town on it. So whats it need for a safe 500 600hp goal.? Ive got the pump to do it RE: My 87 300d superturbo - raysorenson - 11-24-2014 Header. RE: My 87 300d superturbo - Insane190d - 11-24-2014 (11-24-2014, 06:28 PM)raysorenson Header. Just header? I definitely plan on that. How about rods block girdle valve train. ..? RE: My 87 300d superturbo - raysorenson - 11-24-2014 What's being repeated on this board is that 100hp/liter is possible on OM60x 4valve stock long block. 500 should be more realistic with high mileage. You need to monitor exhaust back pressure and EGT to make sure the system is efficient. RE: My 87 300d superturbo - swatmugga - 11-25-2014 are you using 716 gearbox too? If you do what clutch are u using? My 220CDI Cluch burned last week ;( RE: My 87 300d superturbo - Insane190d - 11-25-2014 (11-24-2014, 10:46 PM)raysorenson What's being repeated on this board is that 100hp/liter is possible on OM60x 4valve stock long block. 500 should be more realistic with high mileage. You need to monitor exhaust back pressure and EGT to make sure the system is efficient. 100hp a liter seems low being there only 3 liters. I like 100hp a cylinder better lol. (11-25-2014, 03:59 AM)swatmugga are you using 716 gearbox too? Not sure what im gonna use for transmission. Im thinking the 722.6 I have is best, but I would love a manual. Just dont know what transmission will hold 500hp best. Even if I have to cut the bellhousing. RE: My 87 300d superturbo - raysorenson - 11-25-2014 Haha, yeah, I meant per cyl. RE: My 87 300d superturbo - Insane190d - 11-25-2014 (11-25-2014, 09:06 AM)raysorenson Haha, yeah, I meant per cyl. Oh ok that sounds better |
