RE: Daily W202 C250 TD Turbo Upgrade with 6mm EDC Pump. - charlysays - 01-18-2017 5,000 mile update. Cars running fine still being driven daily quite hard. Been on several trips totalling hundreds of miles on the motorway. Still enjoying how rapidly I can overtake. A couple of BMW M1 (hatchback) owners have been annoyed that they couldn't get past me in my 20yr old family car It now has a bit more on boost fuel again and will have a 6k rev limit imminently. This will mean I should be able to lay down a very quick 0-60 by selecting 2 on the autobox. It will do 60mph at just under 6,000 rpm then. Turbo seems to be holding up- no axial play at all and radial play feels the same as when I first put it on. I think when I run 1.7 bar there starts to be EGP issues especially at high rpm, as when you run only 1.2 bar it's not all that much slower if at all through the gears. I'll tighten the wastegate up a little and nudge it towards 1.5 bar again and see how it feels. RE: Daily W202 C250 TD Turbo Upgrade with 6mm EDC Pump. - Hario' - 04-18-2017 Goo idea on the 0-60 with a redline increase, I just installed my seanyt ECU and want the same now lol RE: Daily W202 C250 TD Turbo Upgrade with 6mm EDC Pump. - Tobulus - 04-18-2017 I am using pretty much the same setup for about 15000km now, but I am not very happy with my turbo choice. The GT2871 is spooling at about 2800rpm which is too late for me in the long term. I got myself a cheap OM613 VNT turbo that I am going to swap in in a few weeks. The chinese turbo is holding up nicely, no play in the bearing till now. Would be a nice choice with a manual gearbox. RE: Daily W202 C250 TD Turbo Upgrade with 6mm EDC Pump. - starynovy - 04-18-2017 Will be waiting for your findings, tried GT25V on bmv 2,5tds and it choked engine even fully open at high revs. One thing I got from this is there is no big enough cheap VNT available for prechamber diesels. RE: Daily W202 C250 TD Turbo Upgrade with 6mm EDC Pump. - starynovy - 04-19-2017 Well I can have OM613 turbos here for anything between 60-150€ all good working order..thats cheap. RE: Daily W202 C250 TD Turbo Upgrade with 6mm EDC Pump. - Turbo - 04-21-2017 mercedes 320 cdi for 400 euro that cheep RE: Daily W202 C250 TD Turbo Upgrade with 6mm EDC Pump. - charlysays - 10-10-2017 Quick update. Done over 20,000 miles now on this, on pure WVO most of the time as my daily car. Only thing which went wrong with the upgrade as a whole was one of the bolts working loose on the 3 bolt flange. I only spotted it during routine inspection- it was barely leaking due to the stays holding the flange tight against the manifold. Turbo bearings feel the same as they did when I fitted it- no in and out play and a moderate amount of radial play. No issues with oil useage/ smoke either. I think these GT28 maxpeedingrods turbos are seriously good value. I'm going to get the maxpeedingrods T04E balanced and built with a 360 bearing kit before I use it like I did with the GT28 (tho that only was fitted with a 270 bearing but has been coping with up to 1.7bar OK) so hopefully ensure the same level of durability. |
