Well if you are considering V6 and R6 would fit.. then go for V8 OM629 a.k.a. 420/450CDI. It has EDC16 motormanagement which is easy to tune and will produce around 400PS and 1000Nm easy.

If you are looking for an engine to power a 5,500#, 4x4 truck that will also be used to tow a camper, why not use a commonly available Duramax, Powerstroke, or Cummins 6-cylinder engine from a US-spec 3/4 ton truck? Or simply buy a 3/4 ton truck that already has the US-spec diesel powertrain?
