RE: Norwegian OM606 build - EDH_Performance - 06-19-2012 (06-18-2012, 01:19 PM)Ducos Greetings from ålesund! Hi, Ålesund is a nice place, have been there The diff is a w124 ASD diff with 3.24 gearing, custom 125mm flanges and shortened w129 35mm axels Works fine, but i am positive that the diff will break soon Too much torque If that one breaks, i have a w129 210mm diff with a 2.2 gearing But this needs welding, or some diferentiallock (06-18-2012, 08:41 PM)sassparilla_kid Do you have enough outboard motors? haha Yes, I work at a local Mercury dealer...So i fix alot of out/inboard engines RE: Norwegian OM606 build - bmartins - 06-20-2012 Brutal...great job..... RE: Norwegian OM606 build - Nielsychop - 06-21-2012 Amazing perseverance! Where did you get your 8000rpm valve springs from may I ask? Also I'm currently looking for a wastegate, what wastegates are you using? and why two? Better control, or is it your manifold? RE: Norwegian OM606 build - gaiex - 06-21-2012 This is the type of work everyone have to dedicate to their engines, if everyone at least have 1/3 of your knowledge, specially me! LOL Keep up with the good project. Soon I will also put a 606/603 on my w115 and that will be a huge task, but first I have to remove all the rust in it!! PS: I noticed that you don't have any engine/AC fan, you don't have too much sunny hot days there to need it!? :-D The space for the fan is minimal right? Regards RE: Norwegian OM606 build - EDH_Performance - 06-23-2012 (06-21-2012, 05:16 PM)Nielsychop Amazing perseverance! Here did i got the springs: http://kmcams.com/product_info.php?cPath=32&products_id=885 They are really cheap, and the fit the stock retainer. Custom botom shims is needed. I have a twinsroll turbo, so therefore i have two wg...Then i can split the pressure in the two exhaust chambers (06-21-2012, 07:39 PM)gaiex This is the type of work everyone have to dedicate to their engines, if everyone at least have 1/3 of your knowledge, specially me! LOL Thanks mate You are absolutly right, I dont have any fan...There is so little room for it, but I will make room, and install one very soon as we go towards pretty warm days here in Norway RE: Norwegian OM606 build - jeemu - 06-23-2012 Hi. Spal make wery thing fans. 350mm version is 51mm thing. RE: Norwegian OM606 build - 1540 - 09-12-2012 what kind of valve do you use to bypass the compressor and how do you control it? RE: Norwegian OM606 build - EDH_Performance - 09-12-2012 (09-12-2012, 02:24 PM)1540 what kind of valve do you use to bypass the compressor and how do you control it? BMW trottelbody+wastegate actuator that opens when turbo charge more than the compressor! Easy fix if you can weld RE: Norwegian OM606 build - 1540 - 09-13-2012 Can you take a picture how you have linked together wastgeten and trottelboddyn because I have a 606 with turbo and ombygd pump but it needs more boost at lower RPM. just have to find kompessor that works well first RE: Norwegian OM606 build - Rub87 - 09-20-2012 How's the oil burning these days in the OM606?? RE: Norwegian OM606 build - EDH_Performance - 09-24-2012 (09-13-2012, 06:04 AM)1540 Can you take a picture how you have linked together wastgeten and trottelboddyn because I have a 606 with turbo and ombygd pump but it needs more boost at lower RPM. just have to find kompessor that works well firstI can take some photos if i remember But it was very easy to fix! (09-20-2012, 05:05 AM)Rub87 How's the oil burning these days in the OM606?? The oil burner works perfect! Still to little hp, but we are gonna dyno it one more time I need to fis the feedpump and then meybe we can se 500whp RE: Norwegian OM606 build - mao76 - 09-24-2012 would very good friend, want to do a job as yours on my bmw330d, would I want to put an eaton m90, but as turbocharger I have found a gt3582r Garrett and a t70super, is you/he/she able' to go? what ar should I use warm side?difference feels a lot him with supercharger for the low regimes? RE: Norwegian OM606 build - Ksteen2 - 09-27-2012 (12-27-2011, 03:09 PM)EDH_Performance(12-27-2011, 01:33 PM)erling66 Hmmm, looks like it is going to be tough for me to get the strongest 606 in Southern Norway But that is cool Hello, Nice work on your car, I am just woundering, can i use a flywheel from a Gasoline engine and mashine like that? RE: Norwegian OM606 build - EDH_Performance - 09-27-2012 (09-27-2012, 02:39 AM)Ksteen2(12-27-2011, 03:09 PM)EDH_Performance(12-27-2011, 01:33 PM)erling66 Hmmm, looks like it is going to be tough for me to get the strongest 606 in Southern Norway But that is cool Yes, i think the E300 or the 300D om603 flywheel is easier to machine RE: Norwegian OM606 build - HaavardPYA - 10-08-2012 Nice project! The rear axel is the weak link in the 201. Is the 2,3 16v rear axle any stronger than the W124? I know that the BMW e28 rear axle bolts right on the w124 bolt holes, just need a custom diff mount. And then you can use the big "210" Bmw 7-serie diff. But i dont think there is any option like that to the 201. Maybe you can use a e28 rear end and shorten it to be narrower? Im from Norway and doing a 606 swap in a 201 myself, so its really nice to see what needs to be done with the driveline! A friend of mine is running the 530D tranny and BMW "210" diff in his E21 with a S54 engine. The only thing that been broken this season is a joint on the propshaft and plenty of tires Im pretty sure that BMW parts is a cheap and strong solution when it comes to driveline. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18Q-1569WZc -Håvard RE: Norwegian OM606 build - EDH_Performance - 10-09-2012 (10-08-2012, 11:20 AM)HaavardPYA Nice project! The weak link in the w124 diffs without the asd is the planet wheels. I have welded my diff, and it holds still! standstill and starting in 3rd gear with no problem RE: Norwegian OM606 build - HaavardPYA - 10-09-2012 Great! What gear ratio is your diff? RE: Norwegian OM606 build - EDH_Performance - 10-11-2012 (10-09-2012, 09:19 AM)HaavardPYA Great! What gear ratio is your diff? 3.07 Have a 210mm diff from a w140 with 2.2 ratio, theoretical top speed of 360kmh RE: Norwegian OM606 build - HaavardPYA - 10-11-2012 Ok. That 140diff would be nice for cruising, or some very long burnouts if there is enough grunt! RE: Norwegian OM606 build - jeemu - 10-12-2012 That e21 is really nice. but Mercedes typ 188 diff can handle prety much power if it is good gondition if used normal street tires on the street. type 210 diff can handle the rest Nice build EDH RE: Norwegian OM606 build - EDH_Performance - 10-17-2012 (10-11-2012, 09:29 AM)HaavardPYA Ok. That 140diff would be nice for cruising, or some very long burnouts if there is enough grunt! More grunt is coming when the fuelsystem is upgraded! Now that i am aware of the starvation in fuelsupply, i really feel that the engine does not get enough food on high revs! (10-12-2012, 12:29 PM)jeemu That e21 is really nice. but Mercedes typ 188 diff can handle prety much power if it is good gondition if used normal street tires on the street. The 188diff has survived massive burnouts with 225 tyres;D If i go as extreme as you Petri and all the other finnish guys, i will ned the 210mm diff RE: Norwegian OM606 build - EDH_Performance - 10-19-2012 Here is dyno video and a little test drive. Made only 356whp and 540nm on the wheel becuase of to little feedpump... Dyno day with the vw/audi club A little test drive: RE: Norwegian OM606 build - 2996 - 10-19-2012 Very awesome videos, thanks for posting You can almost feel the power/torque from the g-force movement of the camera guy. Are you getting a bit of compressor surge around 18 to 22 seconds in the second video? The engine sounds very nice! Cool dyno room also RE: Norwegian OM606 build - EDH_Performance - 10-19-2012 (10-19-2012, 10:34 AM)2996 Very awesome videos, thanks for posting You can almost feel the power/torque from the g-force movement of the camera Thanks The sound you hear between 18-22 sec is the back tyres touching the wheelarch...Have some friends in the backseat;D RE: Norwegian OM606 build - EDH_Performance - 11-22-2012 The engine will be taken to new hights now with: better intake manifold, compound turbo, remove compressor, new 210cc @6100 rpm diesel pump, new big home made feed pump, bigger exhaust. December will be a exiting month Stay tuned! RE: Norwegian OM606 build - EDH_Performance - 11-29-2012 210cc pump was to much for this china turbo... Listen to the strange sound everytime the turbo hits boost! Minute after the compressor wheel came apart RE: Norwegian OM606 build - Sotnisse - 11-29-2012 (11-22-2012, 04:24 PM)EDH_Performance The engine will be taken to new hights now with: better intake manifold, compound turbo, remove compressor, new 210cc @6100 rpm diesel pump, new big home made feed pump, bigger exhaust. Finally i found your project thread, its awesome. And i have to say its also informative in many ways. Ive got w123 om606 turbo. It has been running very nice, but im always planning for upgrades. Since you are removing the compressor, are you not happy with it? Ive been dreaming of a compressor but im not really sure. Maybe i should keep on searching for a better turbo, at the moment its a hx50 RE: Norwegian OM606 build - EDH_Performance - 11-29-2012 Hello there The compressor is going away becuase it takes to much space and the intake is not good regarding the flow! The compressor and turbo works really good in a daily driver, because you get boost instantly Now i am building a compound setup with a hx60 and maybe a hx40 Can you tell me what the size of your turbine housing is, and when do you have full boost? RE: Norwegian OM606 build - Sotnisse - 11-29-2012 (11-29-2012, 01:07 PM)EDH_Performance Hello there Well i have to check, its from a scania 9liter v8. It kicks in at 3500. Max boost is now 1,6 bar. And max revs is approx 5300. Full boost only between 4000-5200 It keeps the boost through gearchanges(3,4&5) but the thing is i cant get it spinning on first and second gear. If i figure out how to post pictures i got the dynochart with previous settings. RE: Norwegian OM606 build - majesty78 - 11-29-2012 @EDH: http://www.superturbodiesel.com/std/thread-3402.html Nothing for you? Pricing would be reasonable cheaper ;-) RE: Norwegian OM606 build - EDH_Performance - 11-29-2012 (11-29-2012, 01:30 PM)majesty78 @EDH: Hoho, looks like a good and healthy turbo But to big for me...I have an holset hx 60 and i need one in the size of a hx40 with 14cm2 housing for early spoo up But thanks for the info RE: Norwegian OM606 build - Ksteen2 - 11-30-2012 how do i mesure the outlet housing?? I've still got a BW KKK29 laying for my 300TDT prodject.. if its not too big, maybe it would be the turbo you'r looking for?? RE: Norwegian OM606 build - w210tdt - 11-30-2012 May i ask What your plans Are for the feed pump?i have a meken 140cc pump in my 606 with a 1 bar high flow feed pump, but wondering if two 044 pumps would be better.to Get 3bar feed pressure. RE: Norwegian OM606 build - EDH_Performance - 11-30-2012 (11-30-2012, 04:08 AM)Ksteen2 how do i mesure the outlet housing?? You need to meassure the little and big diameter on the compressor wheel (11-30-2012, 01:17 PM)w210tdt May i ask What your plans Are for the feed pump?i have a meken 140cc pump in my 606 with a 1 bar high flow feed pump, but wondering if two 044 pumps would be better.to Get 3bar feed pressure.I am building my own pump, capable to over 800 litres/hour, so you need some 044 pumps to beat me! But holley makes ggod feed pumps, and offcourse you can use the 044 pumps, but they are very expensive RE: Norwegian OM606 build - Ksteen2 - 12-02-2012 I'll do that RE: Norwegian OM606 build - Ksteen2 - 12-03-2012 somethings telling me that this old Merch diesel just fly's away from all the other cars that's tunned here, Volvo's and bimmers :p and I like it RE: Norwegian OM606 build - EDH_Performance - 12-06-2012 Resturation of my newly bought Holset hx60: New paint and cleaned the v-bands RE: Norwegian OM606 build - Simpler=Better - 12-06-2012 That is a BIG turbo RE: Norwegian OM606 build - Ksteen2 - 12-07-2012 it became a little better then what it was this is just too cool :p RE: Norwegian OM606 build - mantahead - 12-07-2012 hi, looking good. What size is the exhaust housing. RE: Norwegian OM606 build - EDH_Performance - 12-09-2012 (12-07-2012, 12:15 PM)mantahead hi, It is big, 27...but it is almost the smallest you gan get to the hx 60 RE: Norwegian OM606 build - pena837 - 12-09-2012 KKD sells HX60 with 22cm2 housing RE: Norwegian OM606 build - EDH_Performance - 12-09-2012 (12-09-2012, 04:27 PM)pena837 KKD sells HX60 with 22cm2 housingI will make it smaller if it is to big;D No problem in that, cut and weld RE: Norwegian OM606 build - Ksteen2 - 12-10-2012 If you use a HX35 with smal housing azz a starter, there is no chanse in hell that the HX60 wont spool RE: Norwegian OM606 build - EDH_Performance - 01-20-2013 The new setup on this engine will be a 3 staged turbo system, with boost from idle and up to top rpm... No more info on this now, i will post picture when the setup is built I have worked on the HX60 that will be delivering the air in my setup...The exhaust housing was a 27cm, and will be downsized to about 18-20cm! RE: Norwegian OM606 build - erling66 - 01-21-2013 If you can make that turbo work on a 606, I will be very impressed I like people that try to solve problems themselves and not just buy new parts RE: Norwegian OM606 build - Simpler=Better - 01-21-2013 Turbo surgery!!? What what!?!?!? RE: Norwegian OM606 build - jellydonut - 01-21-2013 That sounds real interesting. I have yet to actually see a 3-stage turbo setup - most people, and companies, end up using at most 3 turbos in a two-stage setup. BMW with their two high-pressure turbos that gate in and out for better response.. and drag racers/sled pullers with two low-pressure turbos for massive amounts of air. Depending on how small the high-pressure turbo has to be, you might have to use a wastegate+bypass air valve to bypass it at higher RPMs. RE: Norwegian OM606 build - Ksteen2 - 01-21-2013 it looks neat hope that big old lump of steel can get some pressure soon RE: Norwegian OM606 build - majesty78 - 01-21-2013 That's a funny one :-) Long time ago i've seen somebody in UK doing this on a VR6 VW build with to big turbine housing.... |
