I pulled an auto 240d cross member today and it is indeed the same as the one that came with my euro 300D 4spd. And..... It's off centered!

Off-centered? I have one on the way replace my crummy modified one.

Ya 1cm or so if you are looking at the mount alone. I was pretty surprised and never had noticed it on my mount. Def get the heavy duty trans mount.

i installed the cross member and heavy-duty mount this evening. All I can say is WOW!!! Not only are the vibrations gone, but the car is much quieter at idle and while driving. I think that the center bolt in the 240D manual mount was not allowing the mount to isolate the transmission from the body. It's like I'm driving a Mercedes now insted of a garden tractor.
