Strong transmission for G-Wagen??? - gvp - 01-18-2010 Hello to everybody!!!I have a G-wagen and am planning to put the om606 with myna pump and a big turbo!!! As will have much torque and as i want a manual gearbox,i decided to put one from Sprinter!!! The code is:711.620 G32-5 and the gear ratio: 5.05:1 2.6:1 1.52:1 1:1 0.78:1 R4.76 I know that the vans have stronger transmissions than normally cars!!! What do you believe???does it nice choise?? RE: Strong transmission for G-Wagen??? - winmutt - 01-20-2010 Interesting, does the sprinter transmission maatch up? I am suprised that is not a granny gear. RE: Strong transmission for G-Wagen??? - ForcedInduction - 01-20-2010 5.05 to 2.6 is a granny gear if I'd ever call it one! Even the getrag 4-speed 240D only had a 4.23 1st. RE: Strong transmission for G-Wagen??? - gvp - 01-20-2010 Sometimes for off-road use it's necessary the first short gear!!!Haw also an overdrive 5 gear.... All the transmissions of the trucks and commercial vans are stronger than normal cars.... Do you believe that will hold 350Hp??? Even the getrag 4-speed 240D only had a 4.23 1st. It's wierd that 5th is an OD tho.. that was the only number I was really looking at. Kind of like a mix between the 711.117 and the 711.116 transmissions. Probably not great for racing on streets but good for off road. -Christian RE: Strong transmission for G-Wagen??? - gvp - 01-28-2010 Quote:gvp - that looks like a great gear ratio. the wide spread should suite the G-wagen nicely. Hope that ll holds the torque!!! RE: Strong transmission for G-Wagen??? - krashappy - 01-29-2010 Will you convert the ECU as well, the trans you describe is an electronic AT isn't it? Which AT is currently under the hood ? It's a manual trabsnission!!! The car isn't ready yet,but ll have om606,myna pump and holset hx35... RE: Strong transmission for G-Wagen??? - GREASY_BEAST - 01-31-2010 Sorry to throw a wrench into the mix. I don't know much about these transmissions, but I gather some people throw big american V8's in front of them... Maybe someone with some experience with these things will chime in. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_R_transmission |
