too much headache - offroadbakos - 02-03-2010 hi everybody!! i am from Rhodes/Greece and have a Gwagen. my problem is engine trouble(what else) my car has the om602de29la engine "2.9td" i was wondering if it is possible to use the IP of the normaly aspirated(non turbo) 2.9 engine (upgrated offcourse) to gain some more power and which turbo should i use to upgrate the OEM turbo? thank you guys!! RE: too much headache - ForcedInduction - 02-03-2010 Yes and no. Your engine has a rotary pump while older engines have an inline pump. Take a look at this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3CFRhp0HI0 RE: too much headache - offroadbakos - 02-03-2010 my basic problem is that the immobilizer kicks in every now and then and leaves me stranded my main goal is to get rid of all electronics,i also have a om602 N/A running engine would it be preferable to turbocharge this engine? RE: too much headache - tomnik - 02-03-2010 try to find a 602a turbo inline IP out of the 2.5 Turbodiesel i.e. W201. I think (not sure) that this IP will fit your engine then your have no electronics and the possibilities for further upgrades. Tom RE: too much headache - INC - 02-03-2010 Take ECU from Sprinter with Bosch Nr 0281001496 or 0281001497. Its without IMMO. Its hard to put inline pump to this engine, you need to cut out place for bigger pump sprocket with injection timing regulation. That means that you must disasamble all engine. I make this, but better option is original VE pump. RE: too much headache - offroadbakos - 02-05-2010 thank u all for the help guys i'll keep u updated on how i proceed on it RE: too much headache - SurfRodder - 02-08-2010 Rodos, huh? Beautiful island! Anyway, welcome to the forum! RE: too much headache - offroadbakos - 02-09-2010 (02-08-2010, 11:29 AM)SurfRodder Rodos, huh? Beautiful island! yes only prob is that it gets too hot some times RE: too much headache - SurfRodder - 02-11-2010 (02-09-2010, 10:12 AM)offroadbakos yes only prob is that it gets too hot some times yeah, the Mediterranean breezes aren't as cool as those of the Pacific, but aside from that the climate and biome are very similar to S. California RE: too much headache - offroadbakos - 02-24-2010 ok i have used the om602 with 95hp i mounted the inlet & exhaust manifold of the om602dela as well as the turbo and intercooler and filter.would it be sufficient to peak the in line IP or do i have to do more than that? i also would like to know what the average indication schould be on the pyrometer. any info wellcome!! RE: too much headache - offroadbakos - 02-25-2010 1 more question .. schould i also swap the rods, pistons etc from the om602de29la to the om602d29 or can i leave it as it is since i am not looking for a lot of hp 130-140hp max? RE: too much headache - offroadbakos - 03-15-2010 after a few e-mails back & forth with Antii at myna i decided to go for the N/A 602 pump tuning costs for inline m pump 850-1050 euro while converting & tuning the rotary electronic pump to mechanikal can be way over 2000 euro. According to the Finns the OM602D29 is one of the best N/A engines for turbo use for powers up to 180hp for more than that modifications are more than required if u want to be at piece of mind. i will proceed with this as soon as possible sending my in line IP to myna and trying to source a new turbo GT2359V or GT2560R. i'll try to keep u up to date RE: too much headache - Jambo - 10-06-2010 Hi offroadbakos, Any progress on this yet and are you satisfied? RE: too much headache - offroadbakos - 10-07-2010 (10-06-2010, 06:32 AM)Jambo Hi offroadbakos, i drowned my engine ......so i bought a new one om605 turbo fitted a mechanikal IP from a om602 so as soon as finish with the fitting and fine tuning of this engine (work next season for the myna pump, hx30 or hx35 & manifold) cause i did not have much free time after work i keep you posted |
