Possible Source for Element install in USA? - jonbobshinigin - 02-16-2010

I have been corresponding with a guy at http://www.superiorturbo.com/ about rebuilding my Injector Pump for me since it has a leak. Below I have posted my latest e-mail with him (You will have to start at the bottom).

He says he can do it, but what else should I be asking at this point? When they rebuild a pump, do they test and tune/calibrate it? Should I see if he can turn it up a bit? What is the next step here? Thanks

If I send my pump (603 070 10 01) from my 1987 Mercedes 300TDT, and I
send you larger elements, would you be able to replace the stock 5.5mm
elements with the ones I send? I you can, there are A LOT of people on
some online forums looking for a place that can do this. I can let them
all know if you can and I'd imagine they would send a lot of work your
way. Thanks a lot!

They are in my preverbal back yard. The Fuel guys are very nice, they are one of my sources for Bosch info and I get parts from them.

I talked to them some time ago about doing some heavy custom MW work and they were not interested because it is risky. Hard to beat factory settings for low risk of return. I talked to another guy there privately and he said they have built hot Cummins pumps in the past, but the owners were not all that excited about it.

They always seem busy, and have been good about looking up prices for elements.

I have never had them do anything, but I have a very good felling about them for what that is worth.

So would they be able to source some larger elements? I am trying to find a place to get some 7mm for my 603 Pump. Any suggestions?

Find out how much they want to swap the elements, I'm betting its $1000 give or take.

I found this, 200D (OM 615.940) is listed as having a M pump with 7mm elements from the factory. The Pump number is PES4M70C321RS, I believe.

I have not seen a Bosch part number for the 7mm elements though. I bet they are very pricey as it is for a limited use application.

the Italian site is not correct for some data.
All Benz IPs have 5.5mm elements except the 606 with 6mm diameter and on top the 200D has only 5mm.
Do a search on this forum or ask Bosch for the price (but be sure to sit well in a chair).
