Ball Bearing Turbo for OM602.980 2.9l - nazim - 07-11-2010
Hello All,
Could anybody recommend a ball bearing turbo for my 2.9l turbodiesel 602.980 engine? The original one on the engine is Garrett 2538C. It is not in good condition and I would like to replace it with a faster spooling one...

Ball bearing turbos don't have any advantage. By 5-10psi of boost the additional drag from the physical contact of the balls actually reduces performance (high drive pressure). Look through the VNT turbo threads here.

OK. Can we mechanically control the VNT turbos?
