new blacked out Paint Scheme for the w116? - W116Lorinser - 07-25-2010

my car is currently silver with silver 17" lorinser monoblocks.

i always loved the completely black out look and would think that on the w116 it would look bad ass especially with a possible blacked out grille and the monoblocks blacked out.

what do you guys think?
looking to do a decent paint job and not really spend that much money since all i want is the body painted gloss black.

Is Maaco a good choice and how do there paint jobs come out?

anyone have experience with them?

thanks

murder it out man!

I'd try to find a local body shop that people recommend. Maaco and Earl Sheib, etc. generally leave you with a orange peel finish... If you can get some marine grade polyurethane and find a local shop to spray it for you (not supposed to put marine paint on anything but boats) youll have a paint job that'll look awesome and outlast any automotive grade job. either way, def use polyurethane paint, I've used all types of paint on my boat and the poly paints always outlast the others.

another thing to consider is that black will show every blemish that the car's body currently has, so therell likely be plenty of prep work to make it look nice. and then you have the added joy of increased upkeep as every speck of dirt will show up on a nice glossy black finish.

anyway, its a pretty sweet look when done right, but youve gotta be the type who likes to detail on a regular basis.
