Konnichiwa from Japan - dust - 08-19-2010 Just wanted to say hi. I'm an american living in Japan, and have been interested in the 98-99 E300 for a long time. Found a link on tdiclub posted by diesel_benz that led me here. I kept seeing big numbers posted, and thought I would poke around. I have been looking into diesels for several years now, because it is a good deal cheaper than gas here in Japan, and because I have always thought that a fuel with more power, and an engine with the ability to run more than just one type of fuel would be great to have. Anyway, I have been shopping, mostly for VW and Japanese diesels because they are so prevalent here, but always have my eye on the MB section of Yahoo auctions japan. Here is what my current car looks like http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/daihatsu/move/1999_11/photo/14334/ and the specs http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/daihatsu/move/1999_11/11148/ it has boost gauge, water temp, MBC, and water/meth injection. RE: Konnichiwa from Japan - ForcedInduction - 08-19-2010 Welcome! I thought the emissions laws were too strict in Japan for a vehicle 10 years old to still be driving? RE: Konnichiwa from Japan - dust - 08-19-2010 Cars older than 10 years had to be inspected every year, instead of the normal every two years. It wasn't a "they can't", it was a taxed to death kinda thing. Fortunately it disappeared a while ago, but I don't know how long ago to be honest. It seems, from what I am seeing, is that a turbo and IP is mostly what is needed for the E300, and tuning I guess from alligator? |
