Breaking studs is the worst of it. The intake comes off at the same time as it shares the gasket.

Careful with the nuts too, they are soft, made of copper or something I believe.

If the nuts are rusted to the studs, most likely the whole stud will pull out of the head. Fortunately, its a cast iron head, so its unlikely you will damage the threads unless you really really try and cross thread the studs back in. At that point its basically a bolt, instead of a stud and nut, and will act like a bolt putting it back in unless you are very unlucky. Big Grin

When I took my 240 manifold off, almost all of the nuts were completely rusted to the studs, and the whole stud came out instead of the nuts coming off. Only made it slightly more difficult to reinstall after the fact. On several of them, I had to use an easy out to remove the stud/nut, and then a torch to heat up the nut and get it off the stud later on for replacement.

The gasket goes on clean.
