1992 300tdt turbo automatic stock - justcruisin - 10-15-2010

Hi everyone,

My name is Edwin and I'm from the Netherlands.

A few weeks ago I bought this car, a mercedes 300td turbo automatic which is completely stock and in abnormal good shape since the car has driven 565.000 km's!

By accident I visited this site and got interested in "tuning a diesel".

Due to the high mileage I guess it's not wise to squeeze out 300bhp, but an extra 50bhp is welcome!
So I started reading this forum, but got dizzy of all the engine codes, pump letters, alda, rack limiters and so on...

Could someone point me in the right direction?

I know I've got an OM603 turbo engine, but what pump?
What should I do to gain some 50bhp and some more torque?

Any help is welcome!

grt Edwin

M pump. Sure that is a turbo? Wish we had those here if so.

Yes, very sure, can't miss the turbo under the hood.

I'm surprised by the American modelnumbers like a 300d with a 2.5 engine with turbo?
Here it's a 250d turbo, a 200d with 2.0 diesel, a 300d ofcourse with 3.0 diesel...

Thanks, at least I know what pump I have.

I also have a 1979 Mercedes 307d with a 240d (2.4 diesel non turbo).

The truck is slow, lots of smoke by cold start, high consumption and currently a top speed of 90 km/h (60 mph?).

When I bought the truck a few months ago it was worse, changed both diesel filter, oil, oilfilter, airfilter and changed oil in fuel pump (last one most important to speed it up).

Still want to adjust the valves and have the IP checked/adjusted.

Anyone good ideas?
