A little help....w123 - mdeming - 12-07-2010 Hey gang. I was going through the car yesterday taking stock on the issues and found this wire tucked into the spring mount hole. It comes from the coolant and looks like a ground but I don't know where to attach it. I'm sure this is a basic deal but I don't have a lot of resources on hand. Any help would be appreciated; photo would be really appreciated. MDEMING RE: A little help....w123 - winmutt - 12-07-2010 My bet is coolant temp sensor on the tstat housing? RE: A little help....w123 - mdeming - 12-07-2010 (12-07-2010, 01:31 PM)winmutt My bet is coolant temp sensor on the tstat housing? I'm sure that's what it is but I can't see where to connect it. RE: A little help....w123 - winmutt - 12-07-2010 You mean the cut end of the wire? RE: A little help....w123 - willbhere4u - 12-07-2010 I think it went to the LH side of the engine up in front of the valve cover to the wiring harness for the glow plugs but I could be wrong! RE: A little help....w123 - Captain America - 12-07-2010 The end in the second pic looks like the female side... That end connects to the male terminal in the T-stat housing (which I believe is a 40*C switch) and the wire leads back into the harness around the coolant tank. RE: A little help....w123 - mdeming - 12-07-2010 The 2nd photo is where the wire has a connection and connects just under the coolant tank. The first photo is the bare wire I found tucked into the spring mount. The wire is clamped to a hose at about half of its length. Since it's a bare wire the best I can do appears to be wrap it around what appears to be projection coming out from the t-housing (i'll take a photo tomorrow). This may explain why my d$%ned A/C would work for all of 5 minutes at a time this summer until suddenly blowing air from the 10th ring of Hades, usually after a downshift. The dealer wanted to throw parts at it, starting with a compressor; evap was mentioned, that would have been expensive.... RE: A little help....w123 - Captain America - 12-07-2010 Bahahaha! Stupid dealer! I think that wire needs to see ground to turn the blower on... so that you don't get cold air when you turn the heater on... |
