Schwitzer - ForcedInduction - 12-14-2010 (12-14-2010, 02:26 PM)George3soccer Now can we compare the Schwitzer S2EGL069, and the Holset Hx35.Not really. The HX35 is a similar size but it has two more blades on the compressor. Quote:Not sure which Holset we should be comparing, but does anyone have insights between these two turbos and there maps. There are no accurate Holset maps since the company doesn't release that information publicly and there are no genuine aftermarket variations/clones/hybrids. If you look at the map, and imagine the S2/S200 could spool up this quickly; This turbo could start at 15psi@2500rpm and pump out 50psi@3000-4800rpm! (These numbers are assuming an effective intercooler is used) An HX35/HY35/HE341 can flow significantly more than an S2/S200 due to the 2 extra blades on its wheel. Which on an OM617 means it will only surge in most of the engine's operating range. (currently) The only Holset that would work on a 617 is the HX/HY30. An HX20/HX25/HE221 would also work for a completely stock engine. RE: Schwitzer - George3soccer - 12-14-2010 Thank you Forced. In all the size are about the same, but since the Holset as 2 blades more it will flow allot more air then this Schwitzer. Now since we have our own post on this topic, how about comparing these two turbos on a 603 motor, and indefinitely on a 606 motor. Just want to see how these turbos will flow with the amount of air a 603/606 will flow for them. RE: Schwitzer - ForcedInduction - 12-15-2010 The 603 and 606 should have no problem with an HX35, their volumetric efficiency is much better than a 617. An S200 would be a little "small" for a 606 to make big power power. The turbine is too large for any MB to spool it up reasonably alone. Thats why I won't be using it alone... RE: Schwitzer - George3soccer - 12-15-2010 The turbo you say that is to large for any MB is that the S200, and you mean alone, so in this case you will be needing a bit of help from a much smaller turbo. So looks like I will be sticking with my hx35 then. Just wanted to see if there was an alternate turbo for the hx35, that can produce a different power range then the hx35. Will keep a look out for this turbo. If I do score a cheap one might as well throw it on and measure data on what it would preform like. RE: Schwitzer - ForcedInduction - 12-16-2010 Might as well. This one only cost me $50. Worst case, I can sell it on eBay for $100. |
