Exploring cheap mechanical RWD diesels (for drifting). - silverzx - 12-19-2010

Hi guys, I'm a member of a few forums and have decided to look into getting a RWD diesel car for drifting.

I've previously owned an ECU controlled DERV which I tuned from 90bhp / 160lbft to 150bhp / 260lbft.

I also currently own a Peugeot 306 1.9 XUD which is mechanically controlled by a BOSCH pump. Big Grin Once I've put the pump and bigger turbo on this should be lookin to go from 90bhp to at least 165bhp.

I'm looking for a mechanically pumped RWD car on a budget. The W123/4 looks epic with a big turbo on.

However Vauxhall Omega's go dirt cheap (£500-750) which come with a BMW 2.5 TD engine (only problem being its ECU driven).

Heres a little read if you fancy it (link) and (link).

Other wise nice to meet you all and please discuss! Smile

Regards,

Trent.

W124 engines are much better for high power. But if you'll make engine swap anyway, the W123 has more attitude Cool

Can't get much power from that engine with ease. With the same effort you get 400-500hp from Merc engine and ~280hp from that.

To be honest I'm not planning on transplanting an engine ai I'll take whatever comes and build upon it. Also its to be done on budget. With the omega being a lor newer its easier to get parts etc.. end of day whatever pops up cheap I'll buy I guess? Would be cool if a merc came along though..!
