Wikings 300td with 4-speed/om617a - It's alive for the very first time! - Diesel-Wiking - 12-27-2010 This autumn and winter I'm restoring an old wreck, the car would go to an scrapyard, but I bought it just before he sent it to the scrapyard. It had much rust which I've been working with. Now, after about 500 hours it looks hopefully a bit better than before: Before, when I drove it to the paintshop: After: I've almost mounted the whole car completely together, just some small things left. -further plans are: -slam it to the ground -mount my 8 and 9x16" wheels with new 215/40/17 -adjust the IP and 1,4 bar -stereo -yellow light bulbs + some other details as you'ill see. I've also some other cars, a 250td '94 silver, and a silver '95 E300D-24v in very good shape, and a '83 BMW e23 745iA, two other w123T 300tdt in pretty good shape(81/84) and an old '69 racecar E9 3.0 cs. The old CS will get a new engine, either om603 with 7-8mm or m51d25 with bigger elements. I have to finish the w123 and the 745 before I begin this huge project.. Hope you'ill like it guys RE: Wikings 300td with 4-speed/om617a - Jtn190D - 12-27-2010 This will be pretty cool. Good luck! RE: Wikings 300td with 4-speed/om617a - willbhere4u - 12-27-2010 I like the color! It looks great! Thanks, yes, I had to buy som ver long bolts and space the rear fender out about 7cm I think. @Mikw: Hehe, the tires are 215/40/16 RE: Wikings 300td with 4-speed/om617a - Euroamg - 01-02-2011 Car is looking a lot better after the paint.. RE: Wikings 300td with 4-speed/om617a - Diesel-Wiking - 01-10-2011 (01-02-2011, 06:09 PM)Euroamg Car is looking a lot better after the paint.. thanks, yes it was in a VERY bad condition. I like the feeling when you are saving a car from the scrapyard. The latest update: -I have bought and installed new clutchpumps and new line between them. Got some clutch now, but I have to get out all the airbubbles in the system I've also installed a boost controller inside the car, and shortshift. A bit quicker and shorter gearchange is allright. -the brakes are working very well after I changed som lines I'm studying in the south now, so the car is 6 hours from here, but it isn't that much left to do, so I will update you with pics and info when something more happens guys. RE: Wikings 300td with 4-speed/om617a - ID240D - 01-26-2011 You have put alot of work into that car and it looks great! What kind of wheel do you plan on putting those tires on? Justin RE: Wikings 300td with 4-speed/om617a - Diesel-Wiking - 01-26-2011 Thank you very much. Centras 8" i front and 9x16" rear. Great job on getting the back on the road and looking good! We have probably 110cm with snow here. I will adjust the IP and 1,4 bar turbopressure, and I have removed the rear exhaust to get better sound, which I'm very satisfied with now, exactly perfect! I have two old BMWs that need som care too, therefore I don't want to use much more on this car, it has been unfortunatly very expensive. I'm pretty satisfied with it as it is, a low cruiser is my goal for this one RE: Wikings 300td with 4-speed/om617a - It's alive for the very first time! - mike-81-240d - 03-14-2011 any videos?... :p RE: Wikings 300td with 4-speed/om617a - It's alive for the very first time! - Diesel-Wiking - 03-15-2011 (03-14-2011, 09:21 PM)mike-81-240d any videos?... :p I should have upgraded here now I've been working with the car this weekend. I mounted open air filter, turbopressure gauge, the fog lights needed to be repaired with new electric cabels, and I gave it new oil and adjusted the injection pump and turbopressure. I've also testdriven it, it works well so far I will make som videos when the snow melts on the roads.. I have some few things left to do. For exampel paint the centre of the wheels in gold color, and mount window wipers and some other small details. Some new pics and hopefully video will come when the weather looks a bit better and the snow melts.. RE: Wikings 300td with 4-speed/om617a - It's alive for the very first time! - winmutt - 09-20-2011 Doesnt seem to keep traction well for lack of smoke/sound? What tires are you running? RE: Wikings 300td with 4-speed/om617a - It's alive for the very first time! - Diesel-Wiking - 09-23-2011 (09-19-2011, 05:28 PM)iheartboost wow why did i not see this thread untill now? you sir have a beautiful car. Thanks I recommend stiffer springs, HR for example and some good schock absorbers which matches the shorter springs. I really don't know what these wheels are called, maybe somebody could answer that question for both of us RE: Wikings 300td with 4-speed/om617a - It's alive for the very first time! - iheartboost - 09-24-2011 cool. ill have to think about it. cuz i really want it low. but i dont want to loose all the handling of it as well. ill have to figure something out. RE: Wikings 300td with 4-speed/om617a - It's alive for the very first time! - Diesel-Wiking - 09-24-2011 (09-24-2011, 10:37 AM)iheartboost cool. ill have to think about it. cuz i really want it low. but i dont want to loose all the handling of it as well. ill have to figure something out. Yes, If you want it low, you have to chop the springs, otherwise you have to mount air ride. RE: Wikings 300td with 4-speed/om617a - It's alive for the very first time! - iheartboost - 09-24-2011 Yea thats what I have gathered. There really arent coil overs for it. and if I want em its a ton of fabrication. |
