Stop the scrolling - ForcedInduction - 01-29-2011 its eating processing power! RE: Stop the scrolling - winmutt - 01-29-2011 I will change it when I feel it has been viewed by all. RE: Stop the scrolling - ForcedInduction - 01-29-2011 Who hasn't seen it? All the scrolling does is piss people off and hides the link from view for several seconds until it scrolls by, which are very counter productive to your goal. Thats not my "opinion", thats a fact people building websites learned back in the 90's. Ever wonder why no websites use it? RE: Stop the scrolling - winmutt - 01-29-2011 (01-29-2011, 08:24 AM)ForcedInduction Who hasn't seen it? Perhaps you should consider a better browser. Not everyone checks the site every day. Like I said I will change it when I feel everyone has seen it. If you dont like it then I recommend you dont come back until it is gone. I had to put it up there, in part, because of you. RE: Stop the scrolling - aaa - 01-29-2011 Scrolling? *enables javascript* Oh. You know I got the message just fine without it moving. RE: Stop the scrolling - ForcedInduction - 01-29-2011 (01-29-2011, 08:53 AM)aaa *enables javascript* It scrolls without java. Its a part of HTML code, thats why its so prevalent in websites created by middle school kids in computer class. RE: Stop the scrolling - yankneck696 - 01-29-2011 What is meant by "scrolling"? No, I have NO HTML knowledge & the only Java knowledge I have is in the percolator. Ed RE: Stop the scrolling - ForcedInduction - 01-29-2011 The code is <marquee> http://www.htmlcodetutorial.com/_MARQUEE.html RE: Stop the scrolling - aaa - 01-29-2011 Apparently my browser handily disables it along with disabling javascript. RE: Stop the scrolling - yankneck696 - 01-29-2011 I havent seen any scrolling on my puter. And it's a dumpy old laptop that has no problem with this site. I do remember changing something in my IE settings that I changed to get all the movie type advertising to stop, you may want to try that. It sure saved time for loading pages like the Yahoo homepage. I cannot remember what it was, but if I can find it, I'll post it for ya. Ed I think I found it. Not sure if it will work, but you can try. Tools Internet options Advanced Multimedia Now, uncheck "Play animations in webpages*" Lemme know if it worked. Ed I tested it & it does work. So, Forced, give it a try & have a Great day. I am off to help the wife powerwash 18 nasty birdcages that just came in. Unbelievable the filth that some people keep their exotic birds in.... Good day !!! Ed RE: Stop the scrolling - dieselboy - 01-29-2011 I only use my iPhone and its just fine for me. Doesn't seem to slow it down at all. Close a few of the porn sites that you have open and I bet everything will be faster. RE: Stop the scrolling - casioqv - 01-29-2011 What is this? I'm browsing in lynx on my SunOS SparcStation LX. That's just a stock photo- but it's no joke. I even have the optical mouse with grid mousepad, and 19" Trinitron that weighs 250lbs but only shows 8 bit color. RE: Stop the scrolling - winmutt - 01-29-2011 I used to have a sparcstation as well. Marquee is old school and ugly. I believe it has fulfilled its intent. I am suprised that Lynx doesnt support it. You should try links sometime. RE: Stop the scrolling - casioqv - 01-30-2011 Bah... lynx is awesome. Not supporting anything but plain text is great IMO. I don't use newfangled crap like links :-P RE: Stop the scrolling - mcneil - 01-30-2011 (01-30-2011, 02:37 AM)casioqv Bah... lynx is awesome. Not supporting anything but plain text is great IMO. I don't use newfangled crap like links :-P You know it's permitted to browse a car forum with a browser that's newer than the car, right? RE: Stop the scrolling - ForcedInduction - 01-30-2011 For firefox users, go to your profile (Help- Troubleshooting Information- Click on Profile Directory- Chrome- find the userContent.css file.) Edit it with the following; /* Disable marquee display */ marquee { -moz-binding: none; display: block; height: auto !important; /* This is better than just display:none !important; * because you can still see the text in the marquee, * but without scrolling. */ } RE: Stop the scrolling - ForcedInduction - 01-31-2011 Winmutt, bolding doesn't do anything either. RE: Stop the scrolling - winmutt - 01-31-2011 It got your attention. Amazingly enough that was the plan. Therefore I would say that it did precisely what was intended. And yes everytime I have to update the rules, expect it to change. RE: Stop the scrolling - ForcedInduction - 02-01-2011 (01-31-2011, 11:35 AM)winmutt change. Thats the only thing I noticed, it didn't entice me to read it. |
